In terms of borrowing Western trends I'm not saying that Pakistani designers copy. I do see similarities though. For instance, the 60's mod look was big, the bohemian look and then kurtis. These trends seem to happen simultaneously in both America and Pakistan. I know it's a different market in Pakistan. But fusion wear is a sign that people want to be more modern and "Western" but still wear Pakistani clothes. Even the tighter, slimmer fit of shalwar kameez and the capri style shalwar are new.
I was just wondering if anyone else notices similar threads running through both Western and Eastern fashion.
these types of fashion changes are almost simultaneous
i mean one day you might see someone with 60s style hair in Times Square and the next day you might see more than a few ppl with that look in Lahore or Karachi.
Basically the fusion thing you are talking bout started more from the western designers taking in eastern touches. It started off from london and Paris fashion scene where designers got the idea of mixing western outfits with eastern touches (like kurtis etc.). Came in the Indians who properly introduced eastern stuff to the fashion world and now Pakistani designers are working in the same way (they are almost working side by side ... Bridal-Asia can be taken as an example).
As for people noticing the similar threads running through both Western and Eastern fashion, well i doubt people are that dumb that they would miss something like that. Rather you would find people even having knowlege even upto who was the designer who came up with the certain type of cuts for a shirt and it was then taken up and turned into a Shalwar kameez style in Pakistan or India
first one.. she looks real simple.. but second she is ruined.. she could have done somethin better..
