Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
I still hear "Mehndi hai Rachne Vali" shadis/mehndis, which is what I walked in to on my Mehndi. Very pretty.
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
well ull never know now will u ![]()
so i guess “pachtayya” by alam/arif lohar is out right? ![]()
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
People would laug and say why are u playing tom and jerry music for the bride ![]()
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
awwwww!!! no!!
have you listened to it?
truly, it is beautiful music and I think for this man to have composed something so ethereally beautiful, he must have had the hand of GOd/Allah as his guide
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
^i havent --- do you have a good clip of it?
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
nevermind-- i found one, it is nice
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
I have listened to it and it is a nice bit of music, however the only exposure to it most desis may have had would be as the background music in some tom and jerry cartoon, so I am factually correct.
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
lol!! thats kinda sad I think esp since the music truly is very beautiful....
I SO hope that I can still listen to it without picturing the antics of Tom and Jerry!!
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
i dont even think i had a song on my wedding.. hmmm but on my engagement i had "ek larki pyaari pyaari" by shaaz khan (i know daggy!)
u could have stuff like
i can go on forever so im gonna stop :)
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
its just as sad as american audience being unaware of classic works by ustaad amanat ali khan. or the beauty of sitar, srangi or sangur that only the patiala musicians had offered.
You can always think about droopy id toma nd jerry get annoying ![]()
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
Actually, a good family friend of ours is a very well known sitar artist over in Pak....indeed, the music is beautiful.
I just had a thought that having traditional music at a Desi wedding is typical....but having a desi wedding in the US with (western? european?) music would be beautiful too, but maybe a tad more memorable because it would be unusual. We went to a huge wedding last year where the bride was desi and groom was european - they combined cultural aspects in each of the wedding traditions and it was a truly memorable event. Or, as the poster requested, perhaps a "cool idea"?
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
mere zindagi ki malik, mere dil pe hath rakhdey...tere aaney ki khushi mein, mere dum nikal jaaey...
....dont know the film's name...but its a nice song.....
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
I need some cool ideas...thanks for your help in advance!!
The last one that I went to, men and women had separate halls, and they didn't play any song. Though after reading your question, the first thing that came to my mind was Welcome to the jungle.
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
Shehnai sounds very traditional, or the last wedding I went to had a live bag pipe player when the bride entered.
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
mama, thanks for your suggestions. Well, in my extended family playing an American song is alot more common than playing desi music because most of them have been living here for a long time that is why I want to have south asian music.
Maybe, i should play 2 separate songs, one english when my friends enter the hall and the other when i enter. Now that’ll be cool!
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
May your wedding day be blessed with the beauty of angels singing and sun shining!
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
we used two songs for my bhabhi's entrance....first one was "just walk into my life"....that the I am Sam copy movie...then i mixed it into "tere mere pyar"..that kumar sanu song..it was nice....
and if ur wearing a red lengha, u could always have that song..Lady in Red..that would be cute
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
^^ Thank you!!! :)
Re: Been to a desi Wedding recently?
^ LOL
MY two cents:
"sonyia to soni meri jaan lagdi" -Gaurve? or something
"dulhe ka sehra suhana lagta hei" -dharkan
"dulhe raja aaien ge saheli ko lejaein ge" - Prem geet
"meri bano ki aaye gi barat" Aaina
"aapke anay se gher main kitni ronak hei.." -rishta?
"bohat khoobsurat ho, bohat khoobsurat ho" -?
Besides that, just about every other bollywood song is sort of wedding-ish...you shouldn't have much difficulty finding one.
