here’s what we do…usually it’s my husband who has bedtime duty, but regardless which one of us it is, we have the boys recite in the following order:
pehla kalma
surah fatiha
4 qul
ayat ul kursi
and then whatever surah they have been assigned in Sunday School that week…mashallah, they all three have about about 4-5 surahs, in addition to those above completely memorized.
That is how my parents taught me my surahs, so I’ve continued the habit with my boys.
