You guys have been such a big help in the wedding forum and I hope you can help me with this as well. I am in the process of decorating me and my fiancés apartment.
- The things is that my moms friends and my khalas have gotten me bedding sets. Those really heavy once, made of velour, silk and has embroidery on them plus you can’t sleep on them because you’ll ruin them.
They are all red and gold, all of them! I don’t want to hurt any once feelings, plus they’re kinda pretty, so I plan to keep them all and use them. The problem is, that I don’t know what colours to decorate my bedroom. I don’t want everything to be red and gold and I want the focus to be on the pretty bedding. Also in what colours should I decorate my living room? I want my living room and bedroom to look like they belong in 2 different apartments.
-
I live with my parents, so my office/library/homegym/everything is in my bedroom. I don’t know where to put my books, office, workout equipment in the apartment? How did you do it? After we get married, a lot of our relatives will come to visit and I don’t want things to be all over the place, I don’t want my apartment to feel crowded by all the stuff.
-
Also is there anything I should be considered of in terms of space for my fiancé? Like, I’ve asked him about closets and dressers and he says it’s unto me, but that he doesn’t have a lot of clothing so he won’t be needing a lot of space. I have gone ahead and decided to buy a big wardrobe where my clothing will take up 50-60% of the space and he can have the rest. I’m also planning on getting one of those double dressers, one side will be his, the other will be mine. But is the anything else I might have missed? He won’t see the apartment until a few days before the wedding, so I want everything to be perfect!
Thanks!
Re: Bedroom + Living room! (Colours + Storage)
creamcolor bedroom walls. other things like carpets/chairs, try to have a cream or red element in there, it could be different colors but keep cream color constant through out so that it brings everything together.

Cream colour, hadn’t thought of that! … Thanks!
Bedroom + Living room! (Colours + Storage)
I would keep the walls neutral and maybe have like a neutral feature wallpaper with like creamish goldish tones to give it that extra lift and you can accesorise the room how you like
Living room i again would have one color as your main and then try and accesorise to compliment it so it doesnt look OTT but dont got for like a crazy wall color if like me you like to chop and change accesories then youl get bored quickly.!
Storage wise we have a triple wardorbe and a chest drawer our place has a built in wardrobe also so hubby uses that and the chest drawer while i use the wardrobe, before at his parents we shared the wardrobe it was fine but my hubby has alot of stuff lol! Our bed i also opted for drawers under it so i have underbed storage and its really handy!
Theres a blog i came across and the house which the lady decorated was amAzing i will post the link for it! Check her out she has some amazing themes in each of her rooms

Go crazyyy with curtains/carpets and decorations but keep walls neutral, beddings will stand out. Like a very light orange colour, or cream/ivory/champagne. A hint of orange goes well with reds and golds.
For the living room, you can have 3 walls of one color and the 4th in a different color/texture like some wallpaper. Again playing with neutral colours and one wall a bit funky.
Re: Bedroom + Living room! (Colours + Storage)
stay away from wallpaper. Its really expensive to put up and take down. Also since your getting married soon, I guess in a year or 2 you will have a baby. Kids like to draw on walls. Better to have paint that you can clean with a sponge then wallpaper, In the future when the kids are older, get wallpaper.

Agree with CPA. I also though of a neutral color like cream for the bedroom because that would make the red and gold bed spread stand out more. Green is said to compliment red…they both bring each other out, so you can also toy around with a pale green shade for the bedroom. But in general neutrals like cream, beige, gray, eggshell, or a even a warm brown will really highlight the red and gold. Black can also make red and gold stand out…but it’s a a color that you don’t wanna use on all the walls…instead it’s better to use it in the paneling or accents. Gosh you could even do pale green wall with black accents and keep the red bedding. But in the future if you wanna use bedding of a different color, maybe it’s better to do a neutral wall.

Op, I think charcoal is an interesting color for walls…even if it’s only used on the the wall behind your bed. It would make bedding of any vivid color (red, purple, blue, etc) stand out.
