do you have a bed time set for your kids? if you do do they nap during the day? what time do they wake up in the morning?
a few months ago i put my kids into the habit of sleeping at 8pm however when my little one doesnt nap during the day hes down by like 7pm..
i love the sleeping early part gives me time to myself however for the past few weeks my little one (2yr old) wakes up at 4:30am-5am and doesnt fall asleep no matter how hard i try..
i tried changing his routine a bit i started to do 9pm instead of 8 and he still woke up at 5am few days ago i did 10 and still the same :hinna:
any advice to keep a routine at night aswell as in the morning?
My 2.5 year old takes a nap between 12-2ish at day care. The time can vary to shorter or longer. She goes to bed around 8:30 but can take as long as she wants to fall asleep. Wake up time is usually around 7ish, 30 minutes plus or minus. If she wakes up later in the morning, she wont nap at her regular time and hence i make her miss her nap so she can go to bed earlier at 7ish pm.
My daughter usually sleeps sometime between 8:30 and 9. And wakes up around 8am. She has one nap during the day, around 2, tho that has been getting shorter and shorter recently.
My 18 month old daughter goes to bed around 9-9:30 pm.Wakes up around 7 am.Has a 2 hour long nap around 12-1 pm.I usually try to avoid any naps after 3:30-4 pm otherwise it messes up her bedtime.
thanks everyone yea i think i'll keep bed time around 8 today i put them down at 7:30 since my little one had been awake since 5am without a nap.. i try avoiding naps because he naps for like 2-3 hours and doesnt feel sleepy at all at night.
how soon can you start your kids on a bedtime routine? mine is 4 months old today mA and so far, we just follow his cues- he sleeps when he's tired, is awake when he's awake, so nothing is really routine as such. except i have noticed he has a mid-morning nap around 10-11. is he too little for much of a pattern?

He can have a bedtime routine now. It shall help shape his routine for the future as well and help his night wakenings as well.

I think you can start now. He'll wake up, sure, but you need to start a routine that signals bedtime.
Now with my kids being in school, they go to sleep around 8 - 8:30 pm. There was a phase of about a year when my choti was a baby and the older one didn't start preschool so she used to stay up late and wake up late. I had to work real hard to get her to bed at a decent hour.
Substantial sleep is essential to growing and having a productive day so do establish a good bedtime routine early on.
My almost 7 month old goes to bed around 7-7:30 and takes two naps a day around 9:30-10 and 1:30 - 2. His naps are around 1 1/2 - 2 hours each. As he gets older we'll probably change to one nap and an 8:00 bed time.
SGC - Its not too early to set a routine for your son. More then the time focus on the sequence of events. So for my son we do the Eat/Play/Sleep routine and at the start there was no time but slowly he started developing a pattern and we stuck to it. For bed time we did bath/book/nurse then sleep. We don't really feel comfortable letting him CIO but we put him in his crib and make shushing sounds and pat his back. First couple of times it took around 15 minutes to get him to sleep and he kept waking up, lately for bed time he usually goes to sleep without any issues and for naps it takes about 5 minutes of patting. At night he wakes up once to nurse and for naps he sometimes stirs at around 30 mins in and I pat his back and he goes right back to sleep.
I set a bed time routine as soon as she turned 2, and the little one (15 months) is old enough to be on a routine as well, so it's gotten much easier now
dinner = 6:00
bath time = 7:00
story/ipad time = 7:30
bed time = 8
My daughter is 16mths (m'A). She used to have 2 naps in the day but found she was restless at night and fidgety so with the advice of my lovely neighbour, I cut it down to one nap around 2pm and to wake her up before 5pm. She now sleeps a bit better than she did before. Still a little restless at night but I find that she doesn't wake me up anymore and will happily settle herself to sleep, AH. I make sure she does a lot of physical activity during the day (with my two nieces playing with her, she's really active, m'A). My daughter does wake at around 6am, but I have a flask of warm milk which I give her and she falls asleep drinking it and wakes for the day around 9am (which is awesome as I get a lie-in on weekends, lo)..
**kids don't like to go to bed because they think the rest of the family have loads of fun when they go to bed...they also think the adults use their toys to play while they are asleep...
...this was a scenario in one of the episodes of *"growing pains"* show. :D**
