Bed size for toddlers

I want to switch my son to his own bed soon, he doesn’t like the convertible crib/toddler bed. I would prefer investing in a bed that hopefully he can use through his elementary years InshahAllah. Should I go with a twin bed or full bed? He moves a lot when sleeping.

Re: Bed size for toddlers

i’d say queen … better for those nights you might need to sleep with him.

Re: Bed size for toddlers

There will be a crib for # 2 in the same room. I really don’t want the room to be too crowded with just beds.

Re: Bed size for toddlers

^ oo my goodness! #2. Congratulations!

Re: Bed size for toddlers

My eldest (11 years old) is still using the full size bed we moved him to when he was toddler.

Re: Bed size for toddlers

Lusi we moved LO into his own bedroom few months ago (I even posted here for ideas.) We got him a twin and invested good amount on the mattress as well. The twin is large enough for one of us to be with him if needed…but still has a lot of room for him. Our toddler room isn’t too big, so we didn’t get a bigger size bed. here is a picture of the bed we got for him:

So far so good. Oh the height on this bed changes as well, so later on we can move it up and add either storage or a pull out bed for sleep overs and such.

Congratulations!!!

Congrats Lusi!! I think twin size is great for toddlers.

Heck, I slept in a twin bed until 2 months ago! (I move a lot as well)

Re: Bed size for toddlers

we bought one of those “grow” beds from Ikea…she’s 11 and still using it because it “grew” to a twin size.
all we did was put it on some risers so that it’s not so low to the ground any more…this was perfect because now she has all sorts of storage space under it too!

Re: Bed size for toddlers

Twin… We had an old twin bed frame at home ( from my single college days) we painted it white and got a mattress from ikea.. Perfect for him and me too in case I need to put him to sleep

He wasn’t a big fan of crib or toddler bed so we just moved the crib to our room for second one and she sleeps in there perfectly okay. Crib will be in our room until she sleeps through the night.. Be it 6 months or 12

Re: Bed size for toddlers

A twin! And get a daybed and face it so the open side is against the wall. Not only do you not need a bed rail to keep him from falling out but they also can’t climb out of it as easily! that’s what we did with the kid and it’s fantastic. We ended up getting a twin daybed from west elm so it’s well built and not kiddish and when he’s through with it, we can move it into the guest room or repeat the process with #2.

Get a full size bed. Its still big enough for not just your child to grow up in but for those rare nights when he fells sick & you need to sleep with him. You or daddy can comfortably sleep with him.

It will also take less space than a queen. We recently switched our 4 year old to a full bed from a toddler bed & compared both twin & full. Our daughter is tall & we wanted something she can use for the next 8 to 10 years. Full definitely seemed like the right choice.
