Hi all,
I am going for my second IUI on Tuesday (am getting inseminated that day) and was wondering is bed rest necessary? I didn’t take any rest the 1st IUI and went back to work even the day I got inseminated. Since I didn’t conceive I thought I would change things up in order to conceive and give bed rest a shot. I was thinking of taking a coupe of days of from work and resting. The biggest problem I have is that I live ok the 3rd floor with no elevator and my parents somehow think that something will happen if I climb those stairs. I know it won’t trust me but they are insisting I stay at there house. My hubby says to ask my doctor and if necessary we can stay at a hotel as he doesn’t want to inconvenience my parents. So does anyone have suggestions?
Re: Bed rest after insemination
There is a better success rate of imantation if you rest for10-20 minutes immediately after the procedure. Some practices at every busy and don't have time for you to do that. So you should bring up that question over the phone or when you see your doctor. Bed rest for the entire day or avoiding the stairs is not needed unless your doctor tells you to.
Re: Bed rest after insemination
Bed rest/avoiding stairs/staying off your feet isnt required after an IUI.Right after the procedure the dr's office might tell you to rest for 20-30 mins and thats pretty much it.But still your physician is the best person to answer this.Good luck!!
Re: Bed rest after insemination
Hi all,
I had my insemination today and I asked my doctor if it's wise to just rest or go about normally. He said that it depends on the person, if you feel ok then go ahead and go back to work, do normal activities etc but if you feel kind of achy or sore just to rest. I decided to rest today and tomorrow and go back to work Thursday. I figured I would give resting a shot since I had one IUI with no rest and this one maybe will be different with some rest. It's a guessing game I guess. Please please if I could ask for prayers during namaz, I would be very grateful. I have 3 attempts at IUI and if I don't conceive, the doctors want to move onto something more aggressive. I'm 0/1 right now :-(
