Salaam.

I know of someone who has decided to embrace Islam. Alhamdulillah. Do they need any witnesses present ie maulvi when they say the shahada or not?.

I am quite certain that it is not required. Although having someone with religius knowledge around may help make them feel more comfortable knowing that they indeed are performing the shahada correctly. But its not necessary - Allah is enough witness as far as I know. Please somebody correct me if I am wrong.
