06/05/2003. Barcelona have claimed they’ve been in talks regarding signing David Beckham for “some time”.
Presidential candidate Joan Laporta, who has promised to sign the England captain if he is elected later this month, made the claim as reports hot up that Beckham is on his way out of Old Trafford.
“We cannot deny that we started negotiations some time ago for the signing of David Beckham,” Laporta said.
United chief executive Peter Kenyon reportedly met an associate of Laporta’s in London earlier this week to discuss a £30m move.
However, Beckham’s father has played down stories by insisting that it is his belief his son wants to remain at Manchester United, although with just two-years left on his contract the club may be keen to cash in while they still can.
it’s almost certain Beckham will be moving out from ManU, especially after ManU will be tyiing up Ronaldinho soon.
Question remains whether Bekhs will move to Barcelona or some other club, since Real, Milan, Inter are interested in him too.
Ronaldinho --> ManU
Beckham --> Barcelona, Real, Milan, Inter
Montella (Roma) --> Inter
Samuel (Roma) <--> Morientes (Real)
Fiore (Lazio) --> Juventus
Rustu --> Barcelona
Van der Meyde (Ajax) --> Inter
Cafu --> Milan
its a rumour beckham isn't going anywhere, mr edwards the c. exec @ man utd has brought david's contract talks forward so he can sign another contract before he can leave in a free transfer when his current contract expires in 2 years time.
Also, bear in mind that Barcelona have not even qualified for UEFA cup next season, let alone the Champions League!!!!
Why would Becks wanna go there when he can continue to play in the best club competition in the world...at Old Trafford where he is worshipped like a God.
The skills God gifted this man with is unbelievable. Bekham is one great footballer, and is loved by everyone in the world. I wish one day I could cheer Bekham on, but unfortunately I hate Man U with a passion
So my wishes are for him to join his buddies in Real, which infact will destroy anything that comes a meter away.
Have you guys ever heard Bekham’s interviews? He claims he was one good cricketer in his days (still says), but he got a better opportunity in football so jumped ship, otherwise his dream was to be a cricketer for England.
Man U are now ready to take up a bid from Barcelona! So a deal is definitely in the works and moving gears now.
Just as well, I would've been quite disappointed to see him move to to an Italian club. The Spanish league offers so much more room for individual brilliance and chance to put skills on display, unlike the rigid and robotic Serie A.
Real Madrid might make a push PR-wise, but Barcelona will make this offer extremely beefy. Let's hope the presidential candidate working this deal gets the votes to be the big-boss man next season.
and now all of a sudden Beckham will be joining Madrid

06/11/2003. The Spanish press believe David Beckham will be playing his football with Real Madrid next season and not Barcelona.
This is despite Manchester United having accepted a bid from Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta.
However, Beckham’s agent has ruled out holding talks with the Catalan club as the player is unhappy at being used as a political pawn by Laporta.
Madrid based sports daily AS has claimed Beckham has chosen to join Real and president Florentino Perez will complete the signing before the end of the month.
This is despite Madrid ruling out a move for the England captain earlier this year when they were stongly linked with a move for the player around the time of their Champions League quarter-final with United.

Beckham going to Real Madrid for a fee of 35million euros, which can be increased to 45million depending on Real's performance in the Champion's League.
Since Raul already has number 7, Beckham will be playing with number 77
Real Madrid could not have had it cheaper...hey what happened to the barter...I was reading some news that Fergi was keen on having their Real's goalie and Claude Makelele...and Real were keen on disposing Figo and Guti..
Another news that I came across was that Arsenal would say bye bye to Viera..
Casillas
Salgado Hierro Helguera Roberto Carlos
Beckham Makalele
Figo Zidane
Ronaldo Raul
i thnk they should also try to get a replacement for Hierro since he's getting too old and it showed during the matches against Juventus. I suggest they buy Walter Samuel from AS Roma

unbelivebale, anyways, does anybody know if Europeon football clubs have salary caps like nfl, nba, in USA.
[/QUOTE]
no, they don't.
however there are plans to change this and introduce such salary caps
in the transfer market, there have been some changes, like
you can only offer a young player a contract of maximum 5 years
after 3 years of the contract, the player gets unprotected and ANY team can make an offer. If the 2 teams don't agree on the price, a judge will formulate the price tag
this price tag will be dependent of: years left on the contract, the current salary, age of the player
there are only 2 transfer windows each year in which players can be bought or sold
a player under 18 years cannot get a long-term contract, but only get a year-by-year contract.
