You want to pick and choose what offends you as a Muslim, so you can't pretend to know what offends a Christian. But by neglecting Jesus' teachings of turn the other cheek, love thy neighbor as thyself and acceptance and tolerance for all - pretty much makes the Jesus of the Quran a different person than the Biblical Jesus. The passages you quote puts Jesus in high esteem and tells us that he performed miracles, but the 'eye for an eye' and warfare advocated in the Quran makes everything the Christian Jesus preached invalid. Even bigger differences with the Quranic Jesus are the assertion that he did not die on the cross for the sins of man; is not the path to salvation; and by claiming he will be a warrior that will slay the non-believers on the day of judgment. Turning the Prince of Peace into a killing machine might be construed by some as defaming their saviour.

ask the evangelical about how the death and destruction will preceede the arrival of jesus. so end times are red with blood so you cant say that islam is the only freak religion. all revealed religion claim that. and eye for an eye? is that not in old testament too? why do born again christians so strongly believe in death penalty? are they "defaming" jesus? i think they are following him best as they can, not that i like them cuz of their blood thrist for muslims. and yes jesus is not path for salvation because only GOD is the way and the truth and all truth eminate from Him, is that degrading jesus? not really, we are just praising God above all and thats it.

I'm not denying Christians believe in Armageddon, but they sure don't think Jesus is going to come back as a warrior to slay the nonbelievers. He advocated peace and nonviolence in everything he preached.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect
- Matthew 5:38-48

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
- Matthew 22:36-40 *

In light of these passages it is obvious that the teachings of the Biblical Jesus are not the same as the Jesus of the Quran. The Jesus quoted here is not going to come back with a sword and kill anybody.

^ You can’t quote from Bible or any other of Christian’s testaments (how many of them are there?). The language in which it was originally revealed doesn’t exist anymore. How can the teachings remain intact then? Who knows what was added to or deleted from it. Besides, for a Muslim, Bible is an out of date book. We believe that Allah revealed it on Jesus, but we do not look at it or any other book of God for guidance.

Also, even if we let go of the above facts, what Jesus said or preached was exclusively for Banee Israeel. It cannot be applied in any form to any other society in a different time. That is why Allah sent Hazrat Muhammad :saw:, to guide the entire human race to come until the end of time.

Seminole, not that I acknowledge or want to debate on anything that you have mentioned, I reject it outright. I just wanted to mention this for other member’s clarification.

we do believe that jesus came on the earth for the first time with only message about peace. no where in islam it is stated that he commanded armies in the first life. there is even a hadith that once he :as: saw a person stealing and he asked him did you steal? the person replied no by allah, besides whom no one has right to be worshipped, jesus replied i believe in allah and deny my eyes. it shows us many things. certainly jesus did not lie or was decieved when he saw the man steal. but when the man said that i believe in God, jesus left the issue up to him and his God. now imagine that a country run by christians was to come to the world. would the govt. take this incident or something similar and say that any one who proclaims belief in God can go free even if he steals or kills? not really. otherwise it will create chaos on earth. as long as jesus was on the earth with out any kingship, he did not enforce the law about criminal affairs. he wanted to cleanse their hearts but when allah sends him the second time he will have power and it is then that he will enforce criminal and battle field law. it makes perfect sense.

Well how valiant of you to choose not to debate but instead dismiss the beliefs of 2 billion people because you have superior knowledge. Thank you for clarifying that. Whether or not you believe in the Bible is irrevelant. Christians do and their Jesus is not your Jesus. I could demean your holy book and give you reasons why I don’t think the Quran is the final book, but it would have as little to do with this thread and be as dismissive and insulting as your post was.
