Re: Beauty myths exposed!
hun, everyone's diff, so i don't how it is with ur hair. but if i wash my hair more than once every three days, it gets oily faster and i get dandruff. same with washing hands, so i end up using hand sanitizer instead. and we wash our hands and face more, because they are exposed to the dirt. your hair should prevent most dust particles from reaching your scalp no?
Re: Beauty myths exposed!
i guess everyones skin type is different., oily, dry etc..for example my dad washes his hair everyday and never uses oil, and mashallah he has no problems, such as dandruff or dry scalp, he is losing his hair though LOL . but as for me, if i wash it everyday, my scalp does get dry and my hair gets frizzy....but do you really use the same soap thats in the washroom to wash your face, dont you put a little more money in the type of soap/cleanser you buy to wash your face with? i dont know about others but if i use the same soap my face becomes very dry and itchy..so why wouldn't you invest a little more into buying better quality products for your hair? the difference between the shelf shampoos and the expensive ones are pretty clear to me, there are way less chemicals and you can actually understand the meaning of some of the ingredients...i don't know, as i said before, i guess it all depends on skin type and personal preference...
Re: Beauty myths exposed!
I have a very sensitive scalp, shampoo makes it worse, it gets dry scaly itchy to a point where I sit and scratch and peel layers of my scalp off. Its painful.
So i went down from shampooing daily to shampooing every four days which was okay except the oil at the roots.
Then I found Dry shampoo which comes in a can, you spray it on the roots and it absorbs oil like a charm. Doesnt leave any residue.

Re: Beauty myths exposed!
i use halo, and it's salon recommended, but it still dries my scalp out.
as for the dry shampoo, what brand do u use? i would like to try something similar

NO, its not the powder one as it doesnt work on dark hair, only looks like you have dandruff. The one Im using is like hairspray but it doesnt leave any residue, just absorbs the oil.

I use shampoo if i have to go somewhere and i need that shampoo look otherwise I use Fongitar, its a scalp cleanser with Tar in it that cleans without drying. If you cannot find that then use Nutrogena or Polytar

hmm
Re: Beauty myths exposed!
I guess depends on your hair and scalp but I don't recomend using shampoos everyday. Most shampoos even baby shampoo are filled with chemical and will dry your hair and scalp.
Sara, I have really fine hair. And I believe that oil does help if u use it regularly. You have to give ur body time to adjust to something. Even many dermatologist prescribed skin products purposely make ur skin worse before making it better. With most things, even vitamins, it takes 3 months on average to see a difference. SO, keep up the oil. I’ve used kalonji before and it’s helpful. Now i used olive and mustard regularly and when I part my hair I can actually see increased hair growth in the form of new hairs. So, keep it up. And take an iron containing multivitamin for hair as my doc recommended me.

I concur. :)
