Beauty and Power? Is there any correlation?

Although the following questions are embarrassing, to be posed in the first place, but sometimes embarrassing issues should be discussed in order to be more realistic.

  1. Is beauty subjective with standards depending on society or culture or personal valuation or are its standards objective? If we argue that beauty is subjective, why then almost all people consider Aishora Rai beautiful?

  2. Is there any relationship between beauty and power or possesion of resources? Is not it a fact that beautiful people tend to be more resourceful/powerful and conversely powerful/resourceful people generally are able (or tend to) to acquire beautiful things more easily? For example, beautiful men and women find better chances in entertainment industry, thus becoming more affluent. How much does skill enable us to have access to resources and acquire beautiful things in life?

  3. Do you agree that some humans have more “developed features” and some “primitive”?

  4. Why in almost all cultures virtue is equated with beauty? In most religions, Islam one of them, people are promised beautiful (hoors, ghilmans, etc.) in the world hereafter if they follow religious teachings? If there really is an objective concept of beauty that could also bring people power and respect why would God do this injustice?

  5. How much is it possible to balance or overpower the power of beauty with that of virtue, skill, and knowledge?

The questions may seem ridiculous but for the sake of truth, ridiculous things should be discussed. Is there any correlation?

Re: Beauty and Power? Is there any correlation?

dino-interesting topic.
i also wanna add that beauty is somewhat dictated by power. e.g. fair skin, blonde hair and blue eyes..
beauty is subjective but there are some universal features that to my knowledge many people agree on...e.g. smooth wrinkle free skin, hairless face for women, a solid jawline on men etc.
beauty related to virtue is in my opnion because of human nature. the whole bit with getting beautiful women is another example of how humans like to 'see' things the way they want them to i.e. heaven=good so the women in heaven =beautiful...

Re: Beauty and Power? Is there any correlation?

Well I do have to agree with scarydreams here that in a sense, beauty is different for each society / culture AND for the record, I don't like Aishwary and I don't get why anyone would want to like a kaali bhangan like her in the 1st place????

Wheeww.. :D

^^ angoor khattay hain :)

Re: Beauty and Power? Is there any correlation?

What does that mean?

Re: Beauty and Power? Is there any correlation?

It is a fact that people will consider men and women with a more symmetrical face to be more beautiful than those that arent as symmetrical.

You must remember that although you consider beauty a great blessing that others wield power with, it is also a great trial for the person you are perceiving has it.

Re: Beauty and Power? Is there any correlation?

How is it a great trial for the person that has the beauty? Would you explain please!
