I already run my own fashion and make-up blog! I think the key thing is not to just repost loads and loads of pictures. People like to read about new products, shopping experiences, latest clothes on the catwalk as well as what they can go out an buy in the shops which is more affordable :)
I personally like blogs which have good and crisp clear photographs. I prefer beauty blogs over fashion ones so I like favorite product type posts, swatches, Face of the Day/FOTD (with products listed), NOTD, also comparisons between two similar products with swatches and reviews. :)
Mad Hatter - I love your blog. It's got the right amount of fashion and personal outfit of the days etc. some people just get images from google and put them up there which I hate. I prefer seeing people's ideas of putting together clothes and yours is the only blog that I've come across about Asian clothes. When I swapped laptops over the summer I didn't have access to my bookmarks (you were one of them!!) and I was devastated because I couldn't find you on google. And all I could remember was your kaprey shaprey title not your curly fries! I can't believe thats your blog!! :D
Ooh actually just realised. You're a hijabi. Could you do some hijabi posts maybe?

Yeah but those are some hardcore make-up bloggers, I doubt I'm up to that level! I do agree though that those blogs are very very useful in filtering out the rubbish and finding out the latest good make up and getting reviews for them :)

That was one of the reasons I started it! I got fed up of seeing catwalk pictures being reposted over and over, I mean, I love a bit of eye candy but it's not helpful when I actually need to buy an outfit that doesn't cost 3 grand! Also, although people like us lot on GupShup have a good idea of what designers etc are available, I know so many girls who are clueless (including my sisters!) and it's a good way to introduce them to designers and fashion styles.
I'm trying to make my hijabi posts more interesting, but to be honest, there's already hijabi-themed blogs around and I dont want my blog to be just about that, cos not all of my readers wear hijab. Surprisingly, my largest viewing audience is based in India!
Yeah exactly that! Its nice seeing catwalk pictures but for some blogs thats ALL they post up. i love how you get your own outfit. it shows the viewers exactly how it looks like on a normal person not down the catwalk. anyway keep doing what you doing because i love your blog!
I would love to see lots of pictures, updates on what the blogger bought and their opinion on it, outfit of the day! pictures and descriptions of morning show hosts
Madhatter -- great job on the blog :) I'll definitely read some more articles and give you feedback :)
To answer the discussion question -- I prefer blogs more about beauty than fashion. I like reading about product reviews, ways to make homemade facials, etc;
I'm looking at your blog mad hatter and I love it!
Thanks! Still looking for new ideas, the pakistani host ideas is a good one, although I dont really watch Pakistani shows, which maybe I should as they always have beautiful outfits!

BeautifulSunshine, it looks great the way it is, I dont think that there is anything you need to add, as you've made it clear that it's about your interests and you give good examples of things you have tried/like. I love that it's a completed mish mash of pretty things, make-up, food etc and it will keep it interesting. The main tip I would give you is to not feel self-conscious when you write (i'm sure you will see that people like viewing your blog when you see your stats!) and that you should write about things YOU are interested in, not just what you THINk you should write. I know it sounds obvious but it really helps to write about something if you are enjoying writing about it.
But good luck with it! x
