My random attempt at cake baking … On Friday I went to Jumma in the first custom built masjid in the UK - It is the Shah Jahan Mosque …

So I decided to make a Shah Jahan Mosque cake …

lovely stuff!!

No one likes chocolaty cakes in my family except for my sis and I , so we make them veeery rarely. Here is one i made last year.

I used the following utensils, the bowls are pyrex - which means they are good in the oven - I made the dome with them and the tray was the masjid body and the round tin was for excess cake mix for other bits.

Here is the baked result …

This is a bit of the cake from the round cake tin - I wrapped it with marzipan and then marzipan was wrapped with icing. I used a mixture of vegetable shortening, icing sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract and glucose syrup as the piping and as the bonding agent between pieces.

Gaps were filled with marzipan and bits of excess cake.
