Such words of wisdom are very rare from Balasaheb, don’t know why this time he don’t want Shivsena to teach our Chokers a lessons? After Balasaheb’s blessings, looks like Indian team can safely land at Mumbai!
New Delhi: Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on Monday asked the disappointed cricket fans not to attack the players’ houses saying that winning and losing is a part of the game.
However he stated that India’s defeat to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the World Cup was a cause of anguish.
In a recent statement, Thackeray said that attacking players’ houses and taking out their mock funeral processions was not the way to express anger.
“This is not our culture. It does not behove us. Nowhere in the world such things happen,” PTI quoted Thackeray as saying.
He also said that England, cricket’s birth place, had never won the World Cup, but the English fans did not burn their players’ effigies for that.
“Sachin, Dravid, Zaheer - these are all our boys,” he said, adding that though their performance in the World Cup was disappointing, their contribution to the game was not forgettable.
However, Thackeray admitted that the way Indian team played in the mega event was a disgrace.
Sometimes I feel like people in India really don't need a reason to go around burning effigies, protesting and destroying property. I think they have a bit too much time on their hands and need to turn their attention to more important things in life.
I think they're taking it a bit too far and getting way too emotional over a sports team. It's not like india got really far for there to be any hope of winning the world cup. And what is up with commiting suicide for these players???
I heard that some people are committing suicide in India. People are holding funeral services for the cricket team. People are rioting on the streets. I thought things were bad in Pakistan...in India things are worse.
I think Bal Thakerey sirif behla phusslaa raha hai unko keh bhagore kahin aur bhaag na jayen, bakron ko chaara dey raha hai. I think he wants the Indian team to return to India immediately and as soon as they land in Mumbai (or wherever), there will be chitrol kee baarish along the lines
‘ek aap hain ek saale woh pundrah (15) badmaash thay, dikhne main to aap hee jaise they laykin ek aap hain ek saale woh thay, hum ne unhein team main select kya kiya saalon ne humaari naak hee kutwa dee, laykin ek aap hain ek saale woh pundrah badmaash thay…’
BTW…
Media reports are that Pakistan Govt. also issued such a plea for our team. For them it would be like " Mein pehlee golee tenu is leeyay maranga keh tenu meree …"
I think it was all media speculations that, players will be treated badly.
People are back to their normal life and have forgotten the tragic end.
Balasaheb's statement is very clear in this regard and those who read it carefully will know that he has spoken very wisely to calm down the millions of agonised fans.
So finally Indian players and Coach will be relieved while returning home.
I still love our team though . While they have some time on their hands right now, they can always do a few bollywood movies…some of them are good looking enough:jano:.
He is such a cartoon.. Did he forgot the time when his workers invaded the pitch in mumbai cricket statium a day before the PAK IND test match ?. .. ab kiya yeh hey thackeray ka culture
"This is not our culture. It does not behove us. Nowhere in the world such things happen," PTI quoted Thackeray as saying.
Our culture is to dig pitches and vandalize gift shops on Valentine's day. I see....
Now if you could just unanglecize your "Thackeray" last name (just like you did to the name "Bombay")...and call yourself Bal Thakre....may be you wouldn't be that big a hypocrite and it would also be in keeping with our Kulchar (or what is left of it).
Even in bombay, when he says biased things against non marathi people most everybody in bombay ignores him. He just seems completely crazy most of the time. What he said here to the Indian fans is quite a surprise and it makes me think this speech was written by somebody else and these aren't really his thoughts.
