BBC start a documentary mini series about Pakistan and Taliban

Re: BBC start a documentary mini series about Pakistan and Taliban

it was a highly biased documentary. Some of its conclusions were laughable. Gutter journalism was at its best. never thought I would see BBC stoop so low. Reminds me of an instance when I was being interviewed for a BBC panaroma programme. I was talking off camera with the guy who was interviewing me and somehow we began talking about Bob Woolmers death in Windies during the world cup. The journalist admitted to me that despite the fact that there was no evidence of Pakistani team involvement in his death, all British journalist, including himself, were desperate to pin it on the Pakistani team.

Re: BBC start a documentary mini series about Pakistan and Taliban

You need a mole to make a molehill, but it is ironic coming from the brits, who made deals with taliban in helmand, to talk about double talk. I know britain is supposed to be a "strategic ally" (more like junior step-son for the US) but I wonder if BBC did an in-depth analysis for that?

Re: BBC start a documentary mini series about Pakistan and Taliban

Of course the programme is biased - because we do not like it!

I am surprised the BBC actually went this far and I thought Secret Pakistan would be a typical documentary about people in conservative countries dating secretly.

It is quite a bold step on behalf of the BBC - the evidence they have is based on the testimony of other people - who just as any one else can have their own biases.

That Lamb woman from The Times I believe is mad if she believe that the Taliban are everywhere in Quetta. That is how the people dress there, unless she knew something I did not.

To be fair we keep denying the ISI have no links with these extremist groups but how many conincidences can there be?

It is quite evident agents in the ISI and Military are double-crossing and taking a huge risk. I do not agree with the US foreign policy and the way it has handled the Afghanistan issue but the situation would not be so bad if elements in the ISI/Pak Military did not interfere.

2011 was the downfall of Gaddafi, 2012 could be the downfall of Pakistan. 1 year ago we could not even have thought that they could get rid of Gaddafi so easily. Now? The media has gone against Pakistan and this wont be the last programme.

Why are these elements in the ISI/Military putting Pakistan at risk? We may not have a Pakistan in a years time if they continue with their childish egoistic games.

People will probably laugh but the message is clear - to solve the problems in Afghaistan you need to deal with Pakistan.

These same bahadur Generals and Upper ranking Officers will just flee to the West or Middle East at the end.

Re: BBC start a documentary mini series about Pakistan and Taliban

dump everything on Pakistan!!! they have miserbly failed themseleves in the last 10 yrs! ... is their stability and peace in Afghanistan!???
General Athar Abbas said tht they have right to take legal action against the BBC! I hope they do!
so next time BBC thinks 10 times before airing garbage like this!

Re: BBC start a documentary mini series about Pakistan and Taliban

Maybe the reason they are failing in Afganistan is because a country to the east is hampering their efforts?

We do not know who or what is going on but it is quite clear that the USA and UK and possibly other Western countries will lose their temper with Pakistan and who knows what will happen next.

Re: BBC start a documentary mini series about Pakistan and Taliban

Or maybe the BBC Documenary actually revelated the truth and you guys just can't admit it.

What would have happened in the beginning of 2011, a BBC documentary claimed that Osama bin Laden was hiding in Abbotabad. All of you guys would have laughed and decried the documentary and yet later it turned out to be true.

Pakistan gains absolutely nothing by siding with these Islamic extremists.

When you grow snakes in your backyard to hurl them at your neighbours, don't be surprised that they slither away and attack other people besides your neighbours or other snakes take the opportunity to come there or you yourself get bitten by them.

Re: BBC start a documentary mini series about Pakistan and Taliban

So you've actually watched it?

Re: BBC start a documentary mini series about Pakistan and Taliban

Damn…now Germany is accusing Pakistan of supporting Taliban Terrorists

And even China

http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/regions/asia-pacific/china/110801/china-accuses-pakistan-xinjiang-attacks

How many countries have to accuse Pakistan before you guys actually admit Pakistan has a serious problem

Re: BBC start a documentary mini series about Pakistan and Taliban

what makes you think I did not watched it?? I dont like commenting on things tht i havent seen/read myself!

Re: BBC start a documentary mini series about Pakistan and Taliban

In yester years India alone accused Pakistan military & ISI involved in recruiting and training terrorists. Now it seems the whole world is saying the same - Afganistan, USA, Britain, Germany and even China!!
Perhaps Pakistani's should get out of denial mode and seriously consider the consequences of such actions by these so called ' non state actors' & the PA . Afterall the future f Pakistan depends on it.

Re: BBC start a documentary mini series about Pakistan and Taliban

The reality is that all countries - USA, Pakistan, India, Israel, UK to name but a few have all supported groups/ non-state actors who use terror. There are no angels here but sad thing is might is right.

On the other hand we Pakistanis ar in a denial mode of what is going on. We kid ourselves with statements like "everyone struggles to conquer Afghanistan" yet we can all clearly see that most of Afghanistan is not even resisting the US/NATO efforts. The Taliban are as alien to Afghanistan as the USA. The Taliban were a foreign sponsored and supported movement.

It looks like our military and intelligence services, the people who are supposed to defend Pakistan, will be the oes who will destroy it.

On the issue of Pakistan having extremist links. Many people in Swat were shocked to see how Taliban and the Pakistan Army had checkposts very close to one another before the Army decided to "restore peace" in Swat.

It appears as if the image of the Pakistan Army is sacred in the minds of posters here. I am glad they were criticised the way they were in the BBC simply because Pakistani media could not do that. At least it will raise questions in the minds of some Pakistanis.
