This case is rapidly becoming extraordinary. Lahore police have concluded that Davis could not have been acting in self defence, despite the two men he killed being armed.
- No fingerprints were found on the triggers of their guns, indicating that they had not recently placed tried to use their guns.
- All the bullets of their guns were in the magazines; none were in the firing chamber, indicating that the two deceased had not opened fire.
- Eyewitness accounts (mentioned in this article) and forensic evidence (mentioned in others) indicate that at least one of the robbers was shot dead in the back while trying to flee.
I was expecting the initial murder charge to be dropped quite soon because the first news reports made this appear to be a clear cut case of self defence - I had thought that only firearms and immigration charges would stick to this guy. But what the police have uncovered makes this seem much more serious indeed.
