BB cream

I’m just hearing about this for the first time. Blemish cream? Seems like a lot of creative concoctions out there. Any tips? Anyone actually using a BB cream?

Re: BB cream

If you don't have any major issues with your skin and you want to use something lighter and less fussy than a foundation then BB creams are the best. The one I use for day wear just melts in my skin and it looks like I'm completely bare faced and people think my real skin is really that good.

Re: BB cream

^ which one do you use? does it provide some/little/no coverage? do you still use powder or blush on top of it?

I use one by Nars and quite happy with it. It is moisturizing without being greasy, provides good and buildable coverage, gives me a skin-like luminous finish, and has sun protection of factor 30. I sweep a light dusting of hourglass ambient lighting powder over it and absolutely LOVE the result. HGAL powder sets the product for me without looking cakey or taking away the luminosity, and it stays put all day long.
I would definitely recommend Nars bb cream.

Re: BB cream

can you list the specific products you use or links to them? thanks :)

Re: BB cream

I use Korean ones. Dr Jart black label and Misha perfect Cover. They don't cover my dark circles but they even out my skin tone completely. I dont powder often even with foundation. I use my lip cheek tints to keep it natural or low maintenance.

I don't find any difference between a BB/CC cream and a tinted moisturizer. I tried L'Oreal, IT Cosmetics ... and i tried tinted moisturizers from Laura Mercier and NARS. I felt and saw no difference on my skin. =/ It makes me think it's just a gimmicky thing.

I've heard that BB creams that come out of Asian countries, where they originated, are amazing and do make a difference on ur skin. If i were to try BB creams again, would probably be those brands.

Re: BB cream

Dr. Jart would be an eastern one?

Re: BB cream

Dr. Jart+ Skin Care | Sephora

Sounds interesting, but it’s in the same price range as the origins creams I’ve been eye-ing.

(btw to get a good deal on origins creams - just get them on black friday from Macy’s - for the price of 30-35 dollars you get a lot of products in one bag, and they’re all good. My family has been liking them a lot).

So what’s so special about Dr. Jart’s creams?

Re: BB cream

Hopefully this does not mean shiny look? and does it get greasy later on? (maybe depend on skin type ??)

Re: BB cream

These were the original BBs that all the western ones are based on. Unfortunately American ones don’t have the same consistency, colour or beneficial properties. Even the origins one is merely a tinted moisturiser. It says so in the description.

The jart one does have one problem and that it’s one colour. It’s not going to work on paler or darker skin tones. I would suggest the missha one instead because it has a range of skin colours and is also available in the US (50ml is like 20$).

Re: BB cream

The Korean BB creams are said to contain benefits that improve the quality of skin over time…so have you noticed any improvement in the texture/quality of your skin by using the bb cream? Supposedly you should see that you skin looks better/clearer when bb cream is removed from the face cuz it should have been doing wonderous things to your skin while you had it on. :hehe: So, what’s the verdict on that?

I avoided getting the korean bb creams cuz they didn’t match my skin tone. But I googled Missha and was surprised to find the addition of the shade 27. It would match my skin tone as I’m pretty yellow-toned.

But like S_Punk, I also question how much “different” could a korean bb cream be from other Western foundations that also claim to improve the skin?

Also, does it tend you make you oily or shiny after a while?

Re: BB cream

I can't answer the oily question because I'm a normal/dry person.

American BBs were really orange and oxidize even further which was annoying without any coverage. If their colour and coverage (like my face is randomly different shades and need to hide that) had been better I would not have opted for Korean stuff.

I don't wear makeup of any kind on a day to day basis, only sun screen so I can't say although the SPF properties are good and provide more cover.

Re: BB cream

^Thanks. :flower1:

I prefer light/natural looking makeup…anything cakey makes me uncomfy. I’ll look into the Missha 27 some more. Where do you order yours from? Would Amazon be reliable?

Re: BB cream

Got mine from here but since I live in Pakistan I had a go between to get it to me.
M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42 PA+++(50ml) | The Official Missha

Just be warned the first time I put it on I felt the smell was crazy. Too floral but as time went by I hardly notice it now. If you’ve got allergies then be careful and do a skin test before hand. It looks mask like in the first 10 minutes but gradually settles down (at least it did for me)

Re: BB cream

BB creams are brilliant if you have good enough skin. I don't like wearing full coverage foundations nor I appreciate that 'flawless' cakey look. My friend who is also a make up artist once asked me that 'why would you want to cover the natural contour of your face'? That really made me think and since then, I have not applied heavy foundation on my face.

I'd tried Origins BB cream, and I found that quite heavy, it felt like a really creamy foundation. Plus I didn't really like the fact that it had a strong perfumed scent. Moved on to Laura Mercier which was not bad, but left a visible sheen on face, not always helpful during the summer. But right now, I'm absolutely loving Dior skin nude BB cream. It's perfect. The colour, coverage, and the finish is all spot on.

I don't wear BB creams on daily basis so wouldn't know anything about skin healing benefits.
