Re: bazaar outfits/designers
well i can't argue with you if you think my point is not valid.
i don't know, everyone in my family (ok, mother, aunties) can tell the difference straight off, without even going close up. the reason i can is because i used to embroider a lot myself (by hand) and my mum has a machine that can do simple embroidery, lol.
i agree that if a person is happy with their outfit it doesn't matter but i also think their satisfaction would drop to 0 if they found out they were paying twice the price. a lot of the reason they are happy is because they **do not know. **ignorance is bliss.
i think prototype did a great job listing her costs. the times i have bought outfits in the same manner i ask for a complete breakdown of costs. that way i can know what they are charging for services/profit and can be satisfied if it's fair. i really hate guessing how much the kaam in an outfit has cost me.
i mean you go to a shop in pakistan and want to have a custom made outfit and they will tell you how much they are charging for stitching, fabric and then you haggle on the price of the kaam because you know that's where their profit is coming from.
but some people just don't get it. my cousin is getting married and she's getting her stuff from here. some from shops and some from this 'designer' who charges £150 for outfits with a little bit on the neck and sleeves - the kind of stuff you see in fortress for 5000RS (which can be hugely haggled down). i'm like, girl just go to pak for 2 weeks, there will be so much variety and you can either save money or spend the same amount and get much fancier outfits. but the fact is, she hasn't been in 6 years and has no idea so she doesn't believe it.
