Baywafa, Bay Murawwat

A customer i picked up today was a woman who looked like in her late 20s with a 3 year oldish kid. She looked like one of those 3rd-4th generation desis from Trinidad etc. My assumption was confirmed when i heard her speak in a flawless canadian accent and something lead me to believe that i heard a hint of a jamaican accent.

It was a five minute ride but the dialogue that went on during was quite entertaining. She was talking to her kid in english throughout when all of a sudden she started talkin to her kid in urdu. So i was wrong in assuming she was trinidadian. Anyway heres the dialogue that followed between mother and son.

Mother: Yeh dekho i’ve got candy for you!
Son (very excited): Candy!! (getting even more excited) Abba laaiy hain kia??
Mother (pissed): ABBA NAHI AMMA LAAI HAIY CANDY! Tumhare abba baywafa bay murawwat woh kia laaingay candy!

Then i heard her say to herself under her breath *“I work my ass off for you and all you think about is your father!”. *Half a minute later we reached the destination, she paid and they both got off with the kid happily suckin on his candy.

First of all obviously i had a hearty laugh (after they had left) at the way the kid talked about his abba. It was obvious from his tone that either his mother and father are separated and he misses his dad, or just that he loves his father way too much.

Also the way the woman reacted to her son’s innocent query was very indicative about something fishy going on at home. Maybe her husband was a lazy bum who didnt provide for his family. Or it couldve been just an arugment they might have had.

Just another one of those things about my work. You get to peek first hand at lives of random people; black brown white asian poor rich wierd ugly hot sad happy or just plain normal people. And then when you look at their lives, your own life all of a sudden seems to be a lot more normal in comparision.

Anyway i found it funny so i thought i’d write about it. Who needs TV when im living the real soap here? :>
