ISLAMABAD – Badly hurt by the poll scam verdict and the following attacks by its political opponents and the general media bashing, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Sunday tried to find some solace in pointing out the corruption dirt on the linen of its opponents. Speaking to a press conference here at the Punjab House, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan did accept the apex court decision in the Asghar Khan case but said his party would welcome transparent investigation through an independent national commission instead of by the FIA (Federal Investigation Agency). “The PML-N does not want media trial of its top leadership as the PPP-led ruling alliance ostensibly desires to drive political mileage in the general elections; therefore we reject the role of the FIA in the case investigations,” Nisar said while advising PPP, PTI and PML-Q leaders to see their own tarnished record. He demanded the government set up an independent commission to take the SC’s verdict to its logical conclusion. “Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) was an alliance of eight different political parties but why all the guns are pointed at PML-N,” he questioned.Refusing to cooperate with the FIA, Nisar said the controversy-smitten agency’s poor performance in the last four and a half years was written on the wall for everyone to see. “FIA takes orders from the interior ministry. Thus the chances of its staying neutral are very slim,” Nisar added.“We will only become part of a nonpartisan investigative body,” he declared. “A trial will follow the investigation; (and) whether someone’s guilty or not, will be proven only then; before that I would advise that people should refrain from passing irresponsible remarks,” the PML-N central leaded said. Nisar said that the political cell created in the ISI by late PPP chairman Zulfikar Ali Bhutto has been misused against the elected government on one pretext or the other. He demanded a transparent probe into the dubious role of ISI in general elections since 1988.Criticising PM Raja, he said he better read Supreme Court verdict against him before raising finger at others. “The prime minister, before finding faults with others, should look into his own first.” He also said that President Asif Ali Zardari was also accountable for misuse of secret funds drawn from the IB account against the Punjab government**.Nisar also took serious view of the statement of PTI Chief Imran Khan saying that everybody knows how the former ISI chief had doled out money from the secret funds to make the PTI public meetings successful**. Nisar also flayed the statement of deputy Prime Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi and said there was nothing secret how the former army chief General Pervez Musharraf created PML-Q, and how Pervaiz Elahi had misused Rs400 million as chief minister.

Re: Battle for Lahore.
Ch Nisar is prime example of how corrupt and stupid our politicians can be. I seriously dislike this guy, more than many PPP politicians. He will prove to be downfall of N-League sooner or later.

I am sorry , I am too a critic of PML N but there is never any serious charge of corruption against Ch Nisar . He has been counted an establishment man in past but not this . One should be honest when quoting something about anyone . He is leveling serious charges against IK and He and Khawaja Asif have already accepted the challenge of Ik and waiting for court cases since long .

Re: Battle for Lahore.
^^I am sure they are desperately waiting for notice to Khawaja Asif, almost EVERYONE criticised PMLN for cheap attacks.
I am sure they still managed to fool a few people but Kh Asif lost any respect his opponent had for him, he got so defensive that after accusing IK and companions of SERIOUS corruption charges, he ended up saying "All i want is to ensure donations are secure" lol i am sure he was soooo concerned about those funds.
Talking about taking to court, Younis Habib is also waiting for Sharifs to take them to court but they are reluctant for obvious reasons.
Re: Battle for Lahore.
On topic, this is quite interesting article about PTI plans of Lahore and possible candidates, it may not be 100% accurate but won’t be too different to final list:
PTI’s preliminary list of candidates for Lahore constituencies
** PTI Chairman Imran Khan to contest elections from NA-122, PTI President Javaid Hashmi from NA-118
By Nasir Butt*
LAHORE: Keeping in view the tough contest in the next general election, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has prepared a preliminary list of its candidates for the 13 national and 26 provincial assembly constituencies.
According to details available to Daily Times through party sources, PTI Chairman Imran Khan will be a candidate of the National Assembly from NA-122 while PTI President Javaid Hashmi’s candidature from NA-118 is finalised for the time being, but if shifted to another constituency, Engineer Yasir Gillani would replace him. Another option under consideration is fielding Yasir Gillani for provincial assembly if Hashmi would contest from this constituency. Likewise, from NA-119, PTI is likely to field PML-Q disgruntled leader Farooq Amjad Mir or Admiral (r) Javaid Iqbal.
For NA-120 there is a tie between the Chaudhry Asghar Gujar, a former PPP leader, and Mian Javaid Ali, a former PML-Q stalwart. For NA-123, the names of an old PTI guard Mian Hamid Mairaj and Atif Chaudhry are on the front line. For NA-124, there is a tie between Jamshaid Iqbal Cheema and Allama Iqbal’s grandson, Walid Iqbal. For NA-125, PTI Punjab President Ahsan Rashid, Hamid Ali Khan and Shahid Zulfiqar are prospective candidates. From NA-126, PTI Lahore President Mahmood Rasheed, Asad Umar and Shahid Siddique have been finalised as prospective candidates for the general election.
Former PML-Q minister Abdul Aleem Khan is on top of the list of candidates for NA-127, while Farooq Amjad Mir is supposed to be the covering candidate. From NA-128, Malik Karamat Khokhar and Zaheer Abbass Khokhar are main candidates, while from NA-129 Nawaz Awan and Mansha Sindhu are the main contenders. In NA-130, the name of Munaza Hussain has been short-listed.
For the provincial assembly seats, the names of candidates are: PP-137 Engineer Yasir Gillani and Malik Misbah, from PP-138 Malik Asif Javaid, Junaid Razaq and Farooq Khan. From PP-139 Chaudhry Asghar Gujjar’s name is under consideration, however, at the same time another former PPP die-hard Mazhar Iqbal Bhalli Butt is in the race. From PP-140, Nazir Chohan, Atifuddin, Zia Abdul Rahim are prospective candidates. From PP-141, the strong candidature of Nawaz Nutt and from PP-142 Abrarul Haq, Malik Waqar, Malik Zaman Nasib and Sadia Saif are prospective candidates.
For PP-143, Shaukat Shah, Irshad Sethi and Rana Zubair are main contenders, while from PP-144 Mian Hamid Mairaj and Faiz Alam advocate are top candidates under consideration. From PP-145, Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Iftikhar, Tariq Hameed and Mian Khalid are being considered suitable candidates, whereas from PP-146, the names of Adnan Nawaz, Khawaja Zeeshan and Tariq Sadiq have surfaced. As far as PP-147 is concerned, Aleem Khan and Shadab Jafery are candidates, while Ijaz Chaudhey and Mian Akram Usman are candidates from PP-148. From PP-149, Mian Haris Salim, Sohail Asif and Aqeel Siddique are main contenders and from PP-150 Sheikh Imtiaz and Ishtiaq Dogar are major candidates.
In PP-151, Mahmood Rashed and Dr Shahid Siddique are considered candidates, while PP-152, PTI Lahore Dr Murad Rass, Farukh Masood and Amin Zaki are among the top candidates. From PP-153, there is a tie between former PTI Lahore president Shabbir Sial and Karim Khawar; and in PP-154, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Shafiq Joia and Naeemul Haq are candidates. The PP-155 will have PTI old guard Umar Cheema, Asif Bashir and Neelam Ashraf as candidates; while PP-156 will have Shoaib Siddique and Waqar Khan as candidates. For PP-157, Javaid Awan, Hamid Sarwar and Sarfaraz Muna are among contenders, while in PP-158 Major (r) Khalid Zulfiqar is contesting with Tahir Majid Mayo and Dr Sami for the ticket. For PP-159, Ali Imtaiz Warraich, Asghar Awan, Mian Asim and Sardar Arif Rashid are struggling for the party ticket. However, in PP-160, a tough contest between Zaheer Abbass Khokhar, Sarfaraz Khokhar and Tahir Bara is going on for the ticket. But in PP-161 there is no contender against Abdur Rashid Bhatti and Khalid Gujjar is just covering him as candidate.

Party election may change the scenario with few people leaving but pretty solid plan if everything goes smoothly for PTI.
I think PTI will most definitely win more seats than PPP-PMLQ but PMLN will still dominate because they have spent millions of Dollars on infrastructure, too bad they had to sacrifice education, developments projects outside Lahore etc but they are certainly working on projects that are VISIBLE rather than basic infrastructure improvement.

Re: Battle for Lahore.
^^It's not really wrong news, the article kind of lists the possible candidates so it is interesting to read otherwise surely not a final list.
Re: Battle for Lahore.
And Imran Khan will win from Lahore easily Insha Allah
I don't see any seat for PTI in Lahore however in case of an alliance or seat adjustment with PPPand PMLQ they may win few however Imran will get a seat from Mianwali easily .

A few weeks back your prediction was that he won't even win from mianwali
Re: Battle for Lahore.
I think his predictions will keep on changing as the elections near. There’s a thread on this forum regarding predictions of a bye election held in pindi and we know the results. ![]()
Re: Battle for Lahore.
Great . PTI candidate got less vote in that election , He got more votes when contesting as independent candidate .
I always support people struggling and hate them when they act as puppets .

By the way when has Sheikh rasheed been anti establishment? I was not even talking about that, just pointing towards the knowledge you have of the electoral politics of your own city.
Re: Battle for Lahore.
Lahore will make sure that Imran Khan sweeps all the seats from here Insha Allah!
