Bathrooms in the kitchen!

Apartment hunting again and…:smack:

brand new building, shiny new appliances, marble floors etc. closet space. 2 bedrooms, 1.5 bath.
now the half bathroom is in the “master” bedroom…and the full bathroom, is…in the KITCHEN!!!

I really feel like finding these ppl who design these spaces and ask them what the hell they’re smoking to design such weird spaces!

And this isnt’ the first time I’m seeing it…it’s just so..ewww!

A few years back, I saw another apt where the entrance to it was placed in a room that if that were to be the living room, the other room would become a bedroom with a kitchen attached to it…if we decided to keep THAT room as a living room (wtih the bedroom) the entrance would be to the bedroom…if im the only one who thinks that’s super weird…!!

PS, I know in many homes in many parts of the country, there is usually a half bathroom in the kitchen…but that’s usually located at least several feet away from the main kitchen area (ie the stove/fridge etc). But never have i seen a full bathroom in the vicinity of a kitchen…

Re: Bathrooms in the kitchen!

That is so weird :konfused:

I once saw an apartment with a kitchen inside a closet while the washer and dryer sat outside.

Weird.

Re: Bathrooms in the kitchen!

how odd...and icky too....

Whats classed as a half bathroom.?:o

In england you often get homes where the bathroom is downstairs next to the kitchen in the older homes.! Two up two down style

Re: Bathrooms in the kitchen!

^ A full bathroom has at least 3 pieces - toilet, sink and tub/shower.

A half bathroom has just a toilet and sink.

:hehe:

In Pakistan they have quarter bathrooms also, a khuddi and a nalka..

Re: Bathrooms in the kitchen!

it is convenient, especially if you have this as your main go-to cookbook.

The word khuddi always gives me the heeebie jeebies :sid:

As low maintenance, go with flow as I am, I cannot deal with the sit and squats.

Re: Bathrooms in the kitchen!

Those of us below the Mason-Dixon line are pretty spoiled…don’t see much of that down in these parts

Re: Bathrooms in the kitchen!

the funny thing is, i bet 90% of westerners (including abcdjis of course :p ) cant even squat fully :D they've lost the range of motion from years of disuse.

Re: Bathrooms in the kitchen!

squat toilets are traditional toilets of japan......

but direction of sitting is different..........:D

Re: Bathrooms in the kitchen!

Re: Bathrooms in the kitchen!

Talking abut weird locations for said item while house hunting few yrs ago the throne was located in the middle of the basement room with no door.

Re: Bathrooms in the kitchen!

It's very common here in UK...Its just beyond me! so disgusting

Re: Bathrooms in the kitchen!

Its common in older homes, and the reason is convenience of common plumbing. Yup, the rice that you never eaten and thrown away, and the rice that you have eaten and digested, would be flowing through the same sewerage pipe.

Re: Bathrooms in the kitchen!

for some reasons, I cant picture it... we have houses from 1700s, still in good condition, but never seen such a thing!!

Re: Bathrooms in the kitchen!

We have an old polish neighborhood, part of the metro we used to live in. All the houses were from 40's and 50's and almost all had kitchen and bathrooms together, which means that no matter where you are in the house, you have to go through the kitchen to enter the bathroom.
