Upon walking into public restrooms on occassion, I have heard some of the deepest secrets women keep. (Obviously they arent keeping them from me, but you get the idea.) I have heard a woman talking to her lover about how she feels guilty cheating on her husband. I have heard girls talk to eachother about how their 38 inch hips are too big and how they’d like to reduce them to a 36 for their boyfriends. I have heard women getting into fights with their loved ones over the phone. Yelling at their children to not fight with eachother while moms away. I’ve seen women crying, shouting, pacing, and even eating in the restroom/bathroom. I guess the quiet of it all makes people think its okay to do all this there, and I guess it is (though eating in a bathroom is beyond me). Is it appropriate to discuss such things infront of strangers in a bathroom?
My other more serious question is, do you think its appropriate to talk to someone while you are in a stall? Where I used to work, fellow employees would sometimes accompany me to the restroom and then start asking personal questions while I am in the stall. I dont know whyyyyyyyy people do that. To me its a very private moment but people have made it out to be not so. Experienced this at work and events. How do you tell a person that you prefer not to chat when entering a stall? I honestly dont know how to say it to someone without sounding ridiculous. Thanks.
Haha.. its always odd... talking to people while you can't see them, such as while you are in a stall, is doubly risky. See below (and no, this did NOT happen to me) :)
Leaving Montreal, I decided to stop at one of those rest areas on the side of the road.
I went into the washroom. The first stall was taken, so I went into the second stall. I had just sat down when I heard a voice from the other stall, "Hi there, how is it going?"
Okay, I am not the type to strike up conversations with strangers in washrooms on the side of the road. I didn't know what to say, so finally I said, "Not bad...."
Then the voice said, "So, what are you doing?"
I was starting to find this extremely weird, but I replied, "Um ... well ... I'm heading back home...."
Then I heard the person, all flustered, say, "Look, I'll call you back - every time I ask you a question the idiot in the next stall keeps answering me!!!"

Hahaha! Hilarious, the bechara.
I have responded to my boss as well, in the office, not restroom obviously, thinking hes talking to me when instead hes on the phone with someone else. Friggin embarrassing. blush
Maybe I am one of the lucky ones or it's a woman thing but most mens bathrooms tend to have people coming in and out..Mostly the urinals are used and we're pretty quick with our business.
Ofcourse there have been instances when we may walk to the Bathroom discussing an issue or some guy from the department comes in. In both cases we usually continue our conversation near the faucets rather than the urinal/stalls.
I like to wash my face duiring the day, just to get refreshed etc..and I have had people talk to me and then leave me to answer their questions to an empty bathroom.
I am not a blic bathroom person, so I suppose others with greater experience might not agree with my views.
