at what age should a father stop bathing his daughter. I read somewhere that the age a father should stop bathing his daughter is age 4. Is there any evidence of this or scholarly views?
Re: Bathing a child
i dont think there is any such mentioned age....
but as soon as the girl is able to wash herself, the father can stop doing it....
4 is a pretty reasonable age, a child develops a good sense of understanding by this age....
Re: Bathing a child
I think 4 is too young, my son is 4 and once he gets into the shower he doesn't want to come out for hours.
May be 6 or 7 is the right age.
Re: Bathing a child

yes 7 is more reasonable........bcoz a Companion of the Prophet(saw) said i think Ali(ra).....Love your child until 7....then be strict until he or she is 14 then after that age make your child your friend.
Re: Bathing a child
7 is not an age at which a father shud be bathing her daughter....
i dont see it right....
Re: Bathing a child
why even entertatiain such a stupid question? can we not use our common sense? aqal kia ghanss charnay gai hai? Abay, larkian jaldi barri hothi hain, buss ithna kaffi hai. I dont know whether u r a father yet, but when u become one it will come very naturally, u just know.
Re: Bathing a child
i dont think it is the father that will just know...i think it will be more like the daughter will start having some sharam. dont u agree?
Re: Bathing a child
but a 4 year old is not able to wash herself...not properly at least.
Re: Bathing a child
well then the mum should be giving her a bath..
and like fat guru said..use some common sense..
Re: Bathing a child
the reason for my post was because i have a friend with a 4 yr old daughter whose father bathes her at night because her mother gets home from work a bit late. The girl cries to her father and says that she wants her mom to bathe her. I thought to myself that maybe she is crying about it because she is now starting to feel some sharam/haya or something.
Re: Bathing a child
ohhh..
well in that case can't the bath time be changed to when the mom's at home?
..i think it's more of being comfortable with the mum...
Re: Bathing a child
her father bathed her since she was a baby since he got home before mom. this is a sudden change in the daughter. perhaps it is just a comfort thing. she is getting older.
sometimes not everyone uses common sense. they just think the girl is being defiant. i think otherwise.
Re: Bathing a child
Personally i'd let my wife take care of that duty. I think it's more cuz of how lazy I am.
Re: Bathing a child
Just a question, not exactly related to this, but do grlz feel more sharam/hayya earlier (and more) than boys do ?
Re: Bathing a child
well im not really asking who should take care of that duty. sometimes fathers have no choice but to take over that duty if the mother comes home from work late. by the time she gets home....her child is just about to get in bed.
Re: Bathing a child
yes i think so.
Re: Bathing a child
Is everyone dead-sleep the next morning? Let the mom wash her in the morning.
If they are in a really tough situation, they can you (the friend) to wash their daughter..
