BaTairay in USA

We used to have roasted, fried baTairay on Eid in PK. Do they have baTairay in USA? I know Apple Bee’s used to have quail on it’s menu.

By the way, what’s a baTaira in English?

Re: BaTairay in USA

they have frozen ones at halaal meat shops. is it partridge?

Re: BaTairay in USA

They do? can you get me the label info next time you go for baTairay shopping at a halal meat store?

Re: BaTairay in USA

okie. will do.

Re: BaTairay in USA

How do they zabiha the batairy? I thought they were hunted:confused:

Re: BaTairay in USA

BaTairay are too small to be hunted down with an airgun. They are usally trapped in a net, just like sparrows. Then they are slaughtered one by one.

I have also eaten sparrows in PK. They don't have much meat on them but the bones are tasty to chew on.

Re: BaTairay in USA

Poor things, I feel sorry for them :(. You guys are so cruel, you want to eat that little creature :(

Re: BaTairay in USA

Gross, u ate a sparrow? :bleah: Ive never had batairay either and have no desire to either.

Re: BaTairay in USA

THey are available at some desi restaurants in Newyork.

Re: BaTairay in USA

I don't expect you to munch on sparrows either. I really don't get it though...if you can eat chickens, why not sparrows? Aren't they both from the same family?

Re: BaTairay in USA

Little animals just evoke more sympathy. Even a budha sparrow due to its size looks like a baby thing. How could u be so cruel!

Re: BaTairay in USA

I think its quail.

Re: BaTairay in USA

yes quail! Partirdges r bigger. I remember seeing quail on the package too.

Re: BaTairay in USA

We get all kinds of quails here! Detroit rocks :hula:

Btw why would you want to eat those poor little things anyways?

Re: BaTairay in USA

yea batairay readily available here at halaal desi stores. Get them marinate them in chicken tikka masalaa and throw them on the grill.

good stuff :k:
