Bat For Lashes

Mercury Music Prize nominee and now Brit Award Nominee Natasha Khan of “Bat for Lashes” is also of Pakistani origin.

Her music is quite good but very eclectic, unconventional and not at all mainstream in any way.

This is the wikipedia article on her:-

Here is a sample of her music and video:-

And her/their official webpage:-

She mentions the squash in her bio somewhere - could she be related to one of The Great Khans somewhere?

Re: Bat For Lashes

Re: Bat For Lashes

Re: Bat For Lashes

Re: Bat For Lashes

she mentions pakistan

the song in the back ground is superb

Re: Bat For Lashes

I kind of like this song. It's unique.

The video is simple yet interesting. The "animals" came out of nowhere and its neat how they just hid behind her.

Thanks for sharing.

Re: Bat For Lashes

yeah your right, its a very interesting video - no real special effects other than the the people with animal masks hiding behind her - i wonder what that symbolises? then theres the 2 people in halloween costumes with that bit of music when they let the baloons go - she talks of concepts and imagery in her videos - wish she woud explain this simple but eyecatching video accompanying the haunting song.

she talks of her being bought up in leafy suburbs of london and summer holidays in pakistan an eclectic upbringing, different religions, influences - i wonder if she has any eastern influenced songs or a reflection of pakistan in her artistry?
