For people who are new to the MAC world, what kind of eyeshadows (7-8 colours) would you suggest for them? Keeping in mind a highlighter colour, colours for your lids, crease etc.
Re: Basic MAC eyeshadow colours
One I would suggest without a doubt is 'Club’, it is by far the most unique and versatile colors I have ever seen. It’s a duo chrome so it has brown and green, looks different in different lighting. It also is great for a smokey eye all by itself because it blends out to a brown when it goes on like a green-brown. Such a gorgeous color and glad it was my first MAC e/s.
I know people will recommend Carbon but it is just a matte black, nothing that can’t be duped. If you want a black, try Black Tied b/c it has shimmer in it. Brule is great for a wash of color or to blend out harsh lines b/c it matches the skin, at least for me it does and I’m an NC20-25. Shroom is great for a highlight.
Why don’t you check their bestsellers to get an idea of where to begin your collection? http://www.maccosmetics.com/products/spp/shaded.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT154&PRODUCT_ID=PROD363&SKU_ID=SKU1696
Re: Basic MAC eyeshadow colours
^actually Urban Decay have an exact dupe for Club, it's called "Lounge", just an FYI ;) they're about the same price but i think Urban decay eyeshadows are much better in quality
Favorites in Mac are : Patina, All that glitters, Trax, Knight Divine, Deep truth...
For the crease, Texture or Charcoal Brown are nice, Charcoal Brown also works as brow color
For highlight, i like Crystal Avalanche or Rice Paper
