Duration : Total 14 days 10 days of training

General:

The Course is designed for novices totrain them in mountaineering techniques. Kaghan Valleyis like European Alps which offers a lot of opportunities of climbing, but dueto lack of interest of climbers in it and also in the absence of Pakistaniclimbing community, these peaks are seldom climbed. The course is organized inan area which is enriched with alpine beauty, fine quality of rock, glaciersfor ice climbing and snowy flanks for snow climbing (75% of climbing on highpeaks is on snow) and a moderate peak ascent. The course is designed in anexpedition style and would in the end enrich a novice with enough climbingability. Kaghan valley is relatively easy to approach and simultaneously offerscourse to be completed in just 10 days. There would be only 06 trainees handledby two instructors a ratio better than Europeand training is CEN standardized. However, the course could only be run if allthe six trainees are available owing to heavy expenditure which are based onactuals.

* Glaciers, Snow avalanches and Mountain Hazards


* Geology of Himalayas


* Mountain Sickness and Remedies


* Emergency Prevention and Response


* Mountain Environment

Practical:

* Clothing and Equipment


* Wilderness Travel


* Rock Climbing


* Snow Climbing


* Ice Climbing


* Crevasse Rescue


* Fixed Ropes


* Peak Ascent

Details :

* Fee: Rs.25000/- per trainee; (this includes, transport from Lahore to Naran-Batakundi and back, food on wheels and during training, accommodation in Naran and provision of technical gear (on borrowing basis), instructional fee, print material etc.


* A guide / cook would also be hired out of the fee and portrage of technical gear would be borne out of it. However, personal gear would be carried by the trainees by themselves or they may hire porter for them.


* First-aid arrangement would be made. Please bring your own medicine which you think is necessary for you.


* You can opt for a private insurance for the trip by yourself; insurance cover is not included in the course.


* Moreover, every trainee would be bound to do all the exercises with great care so as to observe highest level of safety.


* Please send your fee in advance so as to get yourself confirmed for the course.


* The food in the mountains would be stuffed one and may not be very tasty and you are required to made your taste for the same as generally on high climbs you do not eat normal food.


* In breakfast most likely corn flex, biscuits and tea etc


* There would be no lunch but some energy bars, biscuits and tea etc.


* Bring your photography equipment but use under the supervision of instructors during training sessions, rest you can take picture as per your choice ofcourse observing mountain codes, not to photograph local women or any other prohibited thing.

VERY IMPORTANT

Items in blue above would be provided (on borrowing basis by SOA/MWP) during the course. Rest of the items would be arranged by the trainees.
