Baseball 2006

Re: Baseball 2006

Kaleem,

Congratulations. Yesterday Bonds tied your favorite Babe Ruth on the third all-time list of extra base hits. : claps : :D

Amazing game tonight. First Winn saved a certain home run on the left field by a fantastic jump catch, top of 9th. And then Alou hit a walk-off home run on the bottom 9th to win the game 3-2.

Re: Baseball 2006

Well, to be honest, I am just going back and forth on Bonds. I don’t know the guy personall but damn - that ESPN reality show he got - some stuff just hard to me. Being called racial slurs on daily basis is tough to deal with, let alone stay in shape. MLB has become a joke to be honest. They just need to get over with this investigation.

Re: Baseball 2006

^ Well, that is not an argument we should be accepting. Just bcz someone is called racial slurs or is insulted, doesn't mean the person should go out and cheat.

Having said that, this whole steroid issue surrounding Bonds, Giambi and Balco Labs is intriguing. While McGwire was accused of using steroids and he faded away from the scene, these new brand of steroids are/were indetectable through tests, thats why they are called boutique steroids. Thats what Balco developed. Now MLB came back after the fact and said all the creams and drugs you guys used back then was illegal. Well, if they were illegal they should have told the athletes back then. They were all openly using them. I think Bonds applied that infamous "cream" in full view of everyone, bcz he didn't think it was illegal. Had he known it, he'd either have stopped using it (yeah rite!), or be more discrete about its use. Its like all athletes use protein shakes to build up energy and everyone is fine with it. Several years down the road some sports body says these protein shakes give you unfair advantage so those who used it are going to be investigated. Its bulll$hit. You should apply the laws prospectively and not retroactively.

Anyway, I don't expect Kaleem bhai jaan to read all that or provide any meaningful comment on it. He'll just come in and post some more insults on Bonds, call him a cheat, thump his chest about Astros and move right along.

Re: Baseball 2006

Faisal, here is something that shows what a jerk this guy is and why he is that way. He gets it from his moron father. How I wish that this cheater never ever be able to lift the bat.

Re: Baseball 2006

I know it’s off topic but i didn’t wanna open another thread for this so here is a news article about baseball in PAKISTAN.

Baseball’s future bright in Pakistan

By Our Sports Correspondent
LAHORE, May 4: Pakistan baseball captain Nabeel Ahmed Rana sees a bright future for the sport in Pakistan after his team qualified for the Asian championship by winning the Asia Cup in Rawalpindi last week.

Talking to Dawn, Nabeel said that Pakistan joined the elite club of six countries of Asia after a historic win and it would further generate the interest for theyoungsters.

Pakistan will be competing with top teams of Asia including China, Japan, South Korea, Philippines and Taiwan in the Asian championship to be held in Taiwan later this year.

Pakistan also qualified for the Asian Games to be held in Doha, Qatar in Dec this year.

He said that the main reason for the achievement was because the game was similar to cricket and the boys had been adjusting easily.

Nabeel pointed out that the Pakistan Baseball Federation was trying to enter Pakistan in the minor league of USA and if it succeeded the boys would get best opportunity to improve their game before the two Asian competitions.

Good to see Pakistan doing well in this American sport

Re: Baseball 2006

If they do well in the Asian championship, i hope they get to play in the next WBC in 2009. That would certainly do wonders for the sport in Pakistan.

Pujols is pure trouble for pitchers
By Todd Jones - SportingNews
Todd Jones is a reliever for the Tigers. E-mail him at [email protected].

From my brief experience playing against Albert Pujols, I can say this: He gets it. And Albert is evolving this season. He has become the face of the Cardinals franchise and is involved with his foundation and numerous civic events away from the ballpark. At the ballpark, he signs autographs, hugs kids, talks to opponents and does pretty much whatever the team needs.

He seems to understand that others in similar shoes can be moody, but Pujols never looks like he’s having a bad day. He must have some, but they never seem to affect him.

One of the Tigers’ coaches, Andy Van Slyke, lives in St. Louis in the offseason. He once played for the Cardinals. One of his sons, A.J., is playing in the minors for the Cardinals. Last winter, Andy got the chance to throw some batting practice to Albert. After Pujols got to know Andy, he told him that he really wants to do something special this year.

Did you hear that? He wants to do something special. Pitchers, beware.

Big Phat is hitting diggers at 6.4 AB - On this pace, he can have 83 HRs by the end of the season. Not only that, he’s leading majors in RBI too.

Re: Baseball 2006

^ What surprises me is that opposing pitchers are still pitching to him. Like, Hellooooooo!!! He must have really good protection.

Re: Baseball 2006

I don't see how his responsible sexual habits efffect his performance at the pate.

Re: Baseball 2006

Tell me you are kiddin’ :omg:

Re: Baseball 2006

He gets IBB but not on the scale Barry does.

Re: Baseball 2006

True... though Barry these days is like what we call in urdu "mud'daa". Whereas Pujol is the real thing. The rate Pujol is going, the guy is on track for 80 HR's this season. He is phenomenal.

Re: Baseball 2006

Uhmmm…yes…kiddin’…thats exactly what i was doing :stuck_out_tongue:

But yeah, i don’t know why managers are choosing not to pitch around him. The guy is absolutely killing NL pitching. I don’t care what kind of lineup protection he has behind him. I’d much rather face Jim Edmonds or Scott Rolen.

Re: Baseball 2006

Mets are starting to lose it. Only one game lead in the East.

Re: Baseball 2006

Kaleem bhai jaan,

How does it feel to be smacked around at home by the worst team in NL West? :D

Re: Baseball 2006

Worse than getting plunked twice in the same at-bat i suppose :D

Re: Baseball 2006

That was a hilarious at-bat. The first pitch went behind Bonds. What a slider! :D
I could swear that Bonds got hit on the fourth pitch too, which was ruled a strike. And then both Springer and Garner got ejected. Springer must have got something else going on, as he was too inside throughout.

I am just glad Wright didn't retalitate, like he did against Padres. At that time it opened the floodgates of runs against Giants. Better to keep your cool and win the game.

Re: Baseball 2006

By the way, NL West is the closest division right now, with all teams at or above 500, and only 2.5 games separating the top team with the worse team(s).

Re: Baseball 2006

And Kaleem bhaijaan, I did see your new wonderboy, Buccholz, the other day, pitching to Giants. Lasted all of 3 innings. Gave up 8 miserly runs. Awesome, indeed!!!!

Re: Baseball 2006

Fasial bhai, just wait and see. He is a rookie he will have ups and downs, but he will be one of the best pitchers in the long run. Dont worry about Astros either, they will make the playoffs and Gianst will not.
Also, hitting a batter is part of baseball, if you cannot take the heat dont come into the kitchen. Maybe in GayFrisco it is not allowed to bean a batter, but last I checked baseball traditions ...it was still in there.
