I get reminded of innocent people losing their lives by getting slaughtered with the "dore" or falling off roofs while kite flying

thats sad reality, but I guess it was comparatively recent phenomenon on basant occasion.

Basant is being celebrated for centuries and we never find reference to such incidents in history and literature books. Moreover, we also don't find reporting of such accidents in India, where they also celebrate Basant.

Basant = peele peele khet, sarsoN kaa khilnaa
Bhaang/Bhang = mauj mastii, bewaqoofiiyaaN aur be_taHaashaa haNsnaa/haNsaanaa
Haldii = masaala, sowar saiyaa [maternity] and as antiseptic
