I think the stiff thread and chemicals should be banned, but kite flying itself should not be banned, its a very liberating sport. But I guess the former is not working well, so they are forced to do the latter

Basant has always been condemned by the religious zealots even when it was peaceful. But now more and more Pakistanis are taking these zealots seriously and thats one reason why Government has been able to ban basant and so many people supporting it.
