I plan on doing my MBA part time but thats long term; as of right now I’m really just questioning what the flip does it all mean!

confused nut :help:

Ditto that to a BSc., where to go from here and possible options...

Coconut its hard to find a job these days cause of the economy but I would say try and find something that you enjoy. Dont do a grad straight away unless you absolutely have to. Work can very often help people understand where they want to head off to.

Business can lead you to everything from NGOs, non for profit work to creating your own business. What you do with it is really up to you. did you major in a certain area? What excites you?

Hayaa- where do you want to head off to? There are so many options. You can work, go to med school, move into a masters program, clinical work, MBA etc etc. Give some more information and I am sure someone here can provide you with some guidance.

Btw generic advice: Dont give up your dream easily. You will always regret not going that extra bit when you could cause later on in life you dont often have the same chances that you do earlier on.

I am not sure if degree alone means anything anymore- just a very personal opinion. It bodes well in a sense that university teaches you how to learn, and adapt to new learning environments. If you are looking for a 9-5 job, then you may have to negotiate what you end up getting with what you really want to do. If you are looking for more entrepreneurial avenues, then you have more options coupled with flexibility. I highly recommend to the newly grads to have that sense of hunger and competitiveness which will allow you to excel even if the job market does suit you well- at least you can start your own business with or without a little help.
Finding sense of direction is the key and at the same time feeling content about what you may have to do at work. It is definitely a bitter sweet struggle, and just belief in yourself, no matter what happens, you will find a way to apply your skill in the fields you like the most.

a business degree is very flexible, i mean not only are your functional areas ifferent..accounting, finance, marketing, ops mgmt, but they can be applied to a wide variety of companies and organizations.

You have to figure out, what you want to do long term, and what is the best way to get there, and there is not one correct answer of "how to get there" and almost always people change their long term goals when they step into the market and see new strends and opportunities.

The best advise I can give you is to really use you career center as much as possible, secondly look for opportunities which will provide you with the type of skills and experience which you can use to advance in your career, or even get your foot in the door at another company.

If i am not mistaken, i believ you are young and probably dont have responsibilities like mortgage and kids. Thats great in a time like this because you can take big risks..look for opportunities globally, look in organizations which you normally would not think of in relation to your profession but they sure as hell use a lot of business folk, i.e. industry associations, non profits.

But dude, seriously, go and spend some time at your career center. It will be worth it

I would say its still possible to excel in these hard times by changing focus to some new arenas. As ur in Canada u can use the vast numbers of new immigrants as potential target market. A friend of mine is doing great business in cell phones and other stuff by just Pakistanis in Toronto.. one can do IT , financial services or insurance and build up ..

Coconut, your long-term plan to do an MBA sounds :k:

In the meantime, majoring in a business field will never let you down. There are always plenty of opportunities in this arena in the workplace…worse comes to worse, create your own opportunities…maybe become an entrepreneur?

Best of luck in whatever yuo choose to do.
