A truly unique voice passed away today. Talents and personalities like him come once in generations.

This is a truly sad day for music, probably ranking alongside the passing away of Maurice Gibb earlier on in the year (or was it last year?) as the second great tragedy in 12 months for the Soul Music World.
I won't pretend I was a huge fan, but I do have to say that he wasn't just a legend of soul music. He was the greatest soul musician of all time in my eyes.
All of his big hits are classics, and it is a true sad loss to the music industry.
