Bargain pro's

How do you do it? :hayaa:

How do you haggle and bring down the price of something? I don’t talk much to dukaan-daar’s but truly admire all the Aunty’s and young girls that have mastered the art of bargaining!

Please teach us how..

Re: Bargain pro's

^me too...I just go up and ask is this the final price...and surprise surprise they would ALWAYS say YES :D

I would pay and exit!

I am terrible at haggling most of the time - I end up paying way more than something is worth. But every once in a while, I dig my heels in and won’t give an inch. Must say, those are my favourite purchases.

The best bargainer - by far my sister! You have to go jewellery shopping with her. We sit down at the jewellers, pick what we like, he weighs it - gives my sister the calculator and say, “Baji, aap iska kitnay paisay daingi?” :hehe:

Re: Bargain pro's

My mum and I are pros at barganining.

  • Look at them in the eye, don't lose eye contact and don't say too much
  • Remain calm, don't try to argue cos then it shows them you mean business
  • Don't get embarrased and act confident
  • Stress again and again your budget and try and convince them that you are not able to pay higher, make some sob story up and use your emotion
  • When you first ask for the price go along with it, keep quiet and NEVER ever show them how much you like something cos then they will definitely raise the price
  • Look around at the collection or shop for a long time not just 5 minutes, nod your head if they ask anything, don't get too friendly with them
  • When you eventually decide to buy something ask for the final price (they will quote something higher always) and then..

Let the haggle begin...

If they don't budge the price whatsoever after you have tried so hard just leave and move onto the next shop and begin your haggle again!

Hope that helps. lol

Re: Bargain pro's

I m hoping I get to go to Pakistan for my wedding shopping.. Unfortunately I don’t have any relatives in Pakistan so if I go it will be with my friend.. I just hope I can bargain and get good deals..
I was in Pakistan for just 12 days in 2004 and stayed at my uncles friend house. His wife took me to all the big expensive malls and didn’t bargain much cuz i was visiting from US :( and when I did say that aunty its too much.. She replied.. ara tum ko kiya farq parta hay.. tum to dollars ma kamati ho :(

I’m so used to saying the word “dirham”, it’s an instant giveaway :bummer:

…and higher go the prices!
