Barcelona annihilated Arsenal once again in the UEFA Champions League yesterday. I thought I’d share the brilliant opener from Messi, courtesy Cesc Fabregas’ silly error. Another glorious goal from one of the best players of this generation. He is mesmerizing, he is God on the football pitch.
Another year and Arsenal disappoints me again. I’m a La Liga original supporter but Arsenal was the team I liked in the Premiership. But seriously, get rid of Wenger already now. They aren’t the Arsenal of Henry, Bergkamp, Pires and what not. Watching Barcelona play is a privilege all football fans should be honoured to have. It is perfection, truly.
****ing C’est le vie oui?!
EDIT: Can a mod please edit the title to say 4 - 3 rather than 5 - 3
4-3 after being down 2-1 in leg one is not an annihilation, especially after a dubious redcard forcing arsenal to play with 10 men and without their key striker.
Barcelona is a better team without a doubt, but the diff between leg 1 and leg 2 was that leg one ref was fair :)
It was offside, although it was so marginal I doubt the linesman actually spotted it. Whatever happened, fact is we were denied a chance to finish strongly after the red card. It was 1-1 at the time and we were winning. Barca had 75% possession against Inter last season, they still lost. I don't deny Barca is a better team and would probably have gone on to win anyway but that decision ruled us out of the tie with half an hour to go.
They were dominated. Their only goal was an own goal so I wouldn't count that.
Also, how about the Messi goal in the first leg? A legal onside goal, disallowed. Justice = Served.
disallowed goal fine justice served
what about the completely idiotic red card for RVP
and 'dominating' a 10 men side with their key striker gone..some achievement
a 1 goal advantage is not annihilation
or we can say barca were annihilated when they played at emirates ;)

Well if you can excuse the linesman for not spotting it then you can excuse the referee for a harsh but legitimate call. Technically he was correct, circumstantially it was very harsh. I absolutely enjoyed last season, it was amazing. The Special One working his magic dude!

Like I said above, if the goal was disallowed then this red card wasn't illegal or wrong going by the rule book.
1st Leg was 2-1 Arsenal (With a goal disallowed)
2nd Leg was 3-1 Barcelona (With an own goal and a harsh but legal red card)
A top Spanish club against a top Premiership club. That's domination. This is coming from an Arsenal fan (Not a supporter though)
Man U - Chelsea: should be a typical open English encounter between two very physical sides. Noone is favorite for this clash Schalke 04 - Inter: having seen the strength of Inter versus Bayern and the poor form Schalke is in, I would rate Inter favorite to progress
Real Madrid - Tottenham: Tottenham are the surprise package of this CL season, but I really think Real should be a size too big for them Barcelona - Shakter Donetsk: Playing away in the far east of Europe is always difficult, but having seen the class of Barca I would expect them to progress; although it won't be as easy as it seems. Shakter are no push-overs.

at the end of the day a one goal difference is not annihilation. if it was 5-0, sure. a one goal difference is just that..a aone goal difference, we can argue till the cows come home that barca could have beaten gunners 18-3 or gunners could have beaten barca..but at the end of the day the score difference was one goal...not quit annihilation
Inter beat Barca over two legs last year, and they had the same possession stats in Camp Nou, the only difference was they had one off target shot. I think where Arsenal screwed up was not having more than a one goal lead at home, there was an easy chance to make it 3-1 if not for Bendtner's selfishness.
