Barbies and Bratz

^ LOL!!

Re: Barbies and Bratz

Barbies are not bad but Bratz :nahi:

My daughters have Barbies and like changing their clothes and dressing them up but I don’t think they consider them their role models thank goodness. But they have lots of other dolls also…baby dolls and polly pockets…that type of stuff.

Re: Barbies and Bratz

Completely agree, I used to have barbie dolls when I was younger. I never thought of them as role models, for me they were just toys, and I used to love playing with them and all those pretty dresses.

Re: Barbies and Bratz

I had like a dozen barbies ..may be more and the feeling of happiness whenever I bought a barbie or was given one as a gift is unexplainable and I can't wait to buy barbies for my daughter.

Re: Barbies and Bratz

I never liked playing with dolls as a kid.. I was always playing off the real life scenario like a teacher (using my old notebooks as my students), playing as a doctor (giving prescriptions to my family and insisting they become my patients) or acting as a librarian (and in fact made my own library in the house) even though my cousins and friends did guriya ki shadi and all that but I never enjoyed it.. I dont think I will introduce dolls to my daughters either but if they want to play for a while or so I won't deny them but definitely not my cup of tea.. dolls don't attract me and if my daughters are anything like me they won't find them attractive either.. hopefully!!

Re: Barbies and Bratz

I was exactly like this. My neighbor’s mom made us sooo many clothes for our barbies as she had her own tailoring business. But i remember very well that I played with barbies for a very short period of time

Although personally , when I have a daughter, I do not want to get her any barbies/kitchen set as I think it is very sexists and sort of put kids in a typical mold like girls play with Barbie and boys play with cars.

I don’t really know if i am going to be actually do it when the time comes but its something i always thought as a parent i would do. There are soo many other unisex toys to give.

Re: Barbies and Bratz

One of my best childhood memories is my dad buying me the barbie dollhouse/dreamhouse for Eid and my brother put it together for me

Re: Barbies and Bratz

I hate Barbies. I remember when I was a kid, I had no idea what a Barbie was. My sister is the only girl in my family so she mostly got by with the general guy toys. I remember coming to Pakistan, and all my cousins had just come back from a shopping trip and giggling and screaming excitedly over their newly acquired Barbies. I picked one up and all of a sudden I got a slap on my hand from an older cousin who was like don’t touch our dolls, they’re not for guys. I was like :emmy:
