Re: Barbecue menu

Come on guys … so many views but no reply … some help would b nice …

Re: Barbecue menu

Are we supposed to ok that menu or pick the numbers?
I like mutton Seekh kebab and fish tikka, chicken is good too, but are you picking one item?
Russian salad
For rice you can do the fried rice or chickpea pulao.
How about chicken Karahi?
Strawberry cheesecake and some sort of ice cream maybe.

Re: Barbecue menu

BBQ chicken, meat, vegetables, corn on the Cobb. There is no need for salans and rice. Just have an assortment of salads. For desert…ice cream and fresh fruit

Re: Barbecue menu

Don’t have ‘mains’ at a BBQ.

And your BBQ looks a little boring. Are you any good with a BBQ?
If so get a whole brisket and smoke it for 24hrs or so. If you’re not so good, I wouldn’t have fish as it’s hard to cook on a coal grill.

Re: Barbecue menu

Yes don’t do a Salan, but I think rice is a good filler since you are having 50 people over.m

Re: Barbecue menu

Your bbq menu is awesome. Usually people just do 1 or 2 meats…but you even have fish, so it’s a good variety.

Even if you didn’t have rice and salan, it would have been fine. But if you want to include a salan, you could do nihaari or a veggie salan like palak. For the desserts…aren’t sheer khurma and sawaiyyan similar? Maybe just do one of the two?

Re: Barbecue menu

Thanks for your advice … I like the idea of kabuli … siwanyon ka zarda is different to sheer kurma as roast chicken is different to chicken salan … the fish tikka is a hit n I am making it on the demand of my guests … will post some pics if I get a chance … hmm I am also thinking of some veg curry as the main course is bbq … plus mashed potatoes n varies kinds of fries n wedges …

Re: Barbecue menu

I wouldn’t bother with ‘mains’ at a BBQ. My typical BBQ for a party is as follows:

beef burgers
tandoori chicken breasts
peri chicken wings
masala lamb chops
prawn skewers
halloumi skewers for the veggies

3 bean salad (like chaat)
spanish salad
potato salad
coleslaw
sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and lettuce for the burgers (or to be eaten as a salad)
chilli paneer

mattar pilau
Corn on the cob
potato wedges

the usual selection of condiments and dressings

selection of burger buns, and pitta bread

fruit skewers
cake or trifle

Re: Barbecue menu

Please give the recipes for the halloumi skewers n 3 bean salad … thanks … some cool ideas btw …

Re: Barbecue menu

I simply marinate the haloumi cubes in lemon juice and zest, mint and chilli for a fewer hours and skewer with other veg. Courgettes, peppers and cherry tomatoes work well.

I’ll post the bean salad later.

Re: Barbecue menu

No BBQ ribs?! They are easy to do for a crowd…start them off on the stove and finish them on the BBQ.

Re: Barbecue menu

You don’t need rice or salan…your BBQ IS the main dish.

I’d also eliminate the cheesecake.

IF you want to add something…do a cold pasta salad.
