I have always loved Baqarkhanis all my life. I am craving these for the past many days. To be honest I havent checked with the Pakistani tandoors if they make it. But I wanted to know if I could make those at home. I have tried baking puff pastry and had it with tea. But it wasnt worth it.
I tried once putting a ready to be made Paratha ('Dawn' brand) into the oven and it was not a Baqer khani but gave me some taste of it : ) try it .. no harm !
R-Bibi its a crunchy fluffy sugar coated biscuit type thingy found mostly at kachee hotels in pak. Used to be 2 for a rupee way back then. Dont know how much it costs now. It tasted amaaaaazing especially when dipped in chai. mm mmmmm
Okay you know how you have those flaky wafery cream-rolls.. its basically that but without the cream.
It really is heaven dipped in chaey. I love the Lahori bakarkhanis which are slightly saltish they are more fluffy and yummy. The Rawalpindi/Islamabad bakarkhanis are made in a bit different way, they are shapped like a big donut. They are basically baked in tandoor. Look more like puff pastry but the frozen puff pastry isnt the good substitute for it. The kashmiri bakarkhanis are really different. They are more like saltish biscuit.
Well, I tried looking at the bakeries here, but I dont know how to describe it to the Arab/Labanese guys.
I also tried looking for the online recipe, but the Indian bakarkhanis sound really different. And there is no Pakistani recipe available on the net
I guess I am going to keep an eye on who’s coming here from Pakistan in the coming days, and tell them to get some for me from there. Otherwise, I am gonna go there after a month or so and will get it myself. :k:
