I have store credit cards and a debit card. do those count? i get a few applications every month for CCs but i dont bother to read them. I know i will spend alot and not be able to pay it all off so no use for me.

^^ Just make sure you trash those applications properly if you are not going to apply for them.

Sara well everything counts, sotre cards, bank accts etc.
but get a major credit card, a visa, amex or mastercard. it will help you in building a credit history, and these days, man...u need it. Even for jobs.

If you don't have credit then you may want to setup secure credit card (you give money to a bank and they issue you a card for that amount) and use it. That will help you build positive credit fast, given that you pay off the balance on time and ahead of your schedule.
I don't think store cards like help that much, very minimal effect, if any.

So (dumb question) how can i get my credit report? can i still get it even though i dont have a bank credit card?
Everyone is entitled to onefree credit report per year. You can visit www.annualcreditreport.com and access all 3 (Experian, Transunion, Equifax) reports on that page. If you need it more than once during a year, you can pay them and receive your reports.
