My husband and I need some help. My FIL will be moving to Pakistan in a couple of months for a couple of years and I need to get advice from those who know about getting a bank account set up there. Can my FIL set it up while he is still here in the US and prepares to move or can he only do it once he is there? What kinds of documents from Pakistan will be need, he has both American and Pakistani citizenship but hasnt lived in Pakistan for over 30 years. My husband would feel better knowing that he has everything ready to go for when he arrives there as opposed to him getting there and then looking into it. What kinds of steps do we need to take to help us with this process? What are the major banks in Karachi? The reason my FIL needs an account there so his retirement can be smoothly transferred to a Pakistani bank account and he’ll have access to the money as soon as he lands as opposed to waiting for it all to get settled. Can it be done or would he have to be in Pak in person to set this stuff up? Any american banks that operate in Karachi?
