Well not really an issue but wanna know if others have had any similar experiences.
I had to deposit a check made out to my husband (who isn’t on the account) while getting cash back. Now this teller tells me I can not get cash on this check since it’s a third party check and had to deposit the whole thing.
When you are cashing a check usually the money is coming out of your own funds since it can take some time for the funds to trasfer from one bank to another (yes even in this electronically functionable day and age). So whether a check is third party or not the only way you can get cash back on it is thru your ‘own’ funds available in ‘your’ account.
I ended up doing a withdrawl as well as a deposit. Now my point is it wasn’t necessary to do two different transactions when a deposit would have sufficed (with cash back).
I found this kinda odd cause I know other banks don’t have a policy against cash backs on third party checks. So… I was wondering if anyone else had any similar experiences at their bank.

The cash-back amount does not really come from the cheque being deposited, so it has to be equal or less than the amount currently in your account. If you had sufficient funds in your account (more than the cash-back) then teller was probably a newbie or lacking caffeine :D

Well Sajal ji, I was about to say it but Ehtasab summed it all quite well.
Its only newbies that act up as dope heads.
