And the benefit of the doubt goes to the batsman. I thought it was clearly out. Gah.
Typical Ricky Ponting, having a "word" with the umpire. He has asked for the renewal of the decision, after the decision was made.

GOOD LORD! Now the batsman is given out AFTER Ponting intervened in-between when the third umpire clearly passed the good word to the on-field umpires and had already given the batsman not-out.
Very unfortunate. The heights of desperation!

Hopefully, this will be visible in the highlights package. Just watch the reaction of Ponting after the third umpire gave the batsman not out. He literally went up to Darrell Hair, threw a fit and asked (or demanded, rather) a review of the decision, pointing to the ground indicating that the ball did brush before getting caught in the glove. The umpire was forced to change his decision.
Gavaskar heavily criticizing Ponting for this antic. Shastri sort of defended him by mentioning that it was a correct decision taken, but this is far from what just took place. Ridiculous.
