Bangladesh vs. Australia at Chittagong, Apr 16-20, 2006 *Second Test*

Australia in Bangladesh Test Series - 2nd Test

  • Played at MA Aziz Stadium, Chittagong, on 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th of April, 2006.

Ricky Ponting has hinted that Australia will make changes to their side for the second Test at Chittagong which starts on Sunday. A number of players looked jaded during the Fatullah Test and there are concerns over the fitness of Shane Warne and Brett Lee in particular.

“The last thing we want now are guys going into the second Test match that are fatigued and come up with an injury that could put them out for a long period of time. If you’d been in our dressing room and seen how fatigued and exhausted some of the players are I think everyone would be quite surprised.” Ponting said.

That fatigue has particularly taken a toll on the bowlers. Brett Lee was almost out on his feet at Fatullah - he admitted he was “running on fumes” - and Shame Warne was troubled by a shoulder injury. Both are likely to be rested, and that puts Mitchell Johnson, Dan Cullen and Nathan Bracken in the frame.

Bangladesh, who left Fatullah disappointed with the result but delighted at their performance on the first three days, have one enforced change with Enamul Haque jr rated unlikely to shake off finger pains, and uncapped spinner Abdur Razzak has been brought in at short notice.

What they will look to improve on is their staying power. They appear to wilt as matches progress - which is natural given their lack of experience of four and five-day matches - and that remains a worry.

Re: Bangladesh vs. Australia at Chittagong, Apr 16-20, 2006 Second Test

1.3 Gillespie to Shahriar Nafees, OUT: short of a good length delivery, again drifting down the leg side, Nafees gets inside the line and clips it away in the air towards fine leg, Lee runs in from the deep and takes a fantastic catch, Gillespie strikes early!

Paanjho to moo kaaro thee wiyo.

Re: Bangladesh vs. Australia at Chittagong, Apr 16-20, 2006 Second Test

1.5 Gillespie to Habibul Bashar, FOUR, shot! good length delivery outside the off stump, driven away through cover point and Bashar is away.

Bangalion ki taraf sey pehla chaukka......Aur meri taraf sey Laziza ki rus-malai.

Re: Bangladesh vs. Australia at Chittagong, Apr 16-20, 2006 Second Test

3.2 Gillespie to Habibul Bashar, FOUR, good length delivery outside the off stump, this time Bashar gets forward to the pitch of the delivery and steers it through gully, nicely opened the face of the bat at the last moment to get the placement right.

  • Doosra......doosra......doosra. Aey shabaashay. *

Re: Bangladesh vs. Australia at Chittagong, Apr 16-20, 2006 Second Test

3.3 Gillespie to Habibul Bashar, OUT: that's the end of that! pitched up and shaping away, Bashar drives on the up and the ball goes in the air towards point, Jaques there dives across to his right and takes it cleanly, Gillespie gets one more to his name, Bangladesh two down!

Koi kasar baqee nahin chooree in kumbukhton nay.

Re: Bangladesh vs. Australia at Chittagong, Apr 16-20, 2006 Second Test

5.2 Gillespie to Javed Omar, no run, good length delivery, hint of swing, Omar gets forward and nicely defends it back to the bowler.

Shuker hai, FAST AND BOUNCY pitch maujood hai.

Re: Bangladesh vs. Australia at Chittagong, Apr 16-20, 2006 Second Test

5.5 Gillespie to Javed Omar, no run, good length delivery outside the off stump, curving in a touch, Omar gets forward and forces it away straight to the fielder at point.

Mian, yeh "curving in a touch" ka kiya matlab hua Urdu mein? Itni *bhaari *angraizi pardhee nahin jaa rahee.

:D

Re: Bangladesh vs. Australia at Chittagong, Apr 16-20, 2006 Second Test

6.3 Lee to Rajin Saleh, FOUR, off the mark in style! pitched up outside the off stump, in the slot, Saleh leans well forward and drives it away through the gap between the cover fielders, Clarke can do nothing but chase it to the fence!

Pakar kay maaro goron ko. Eik eik ko pakar kay maaro.

Re: Bangladesh vs. Australia at Chittagong, Apr 16-20, 2006 Second Test

Salam to all
whats Lee problem this time around, is the ground moving when he is about to deliver the ball

Re: Bangladesh vs. Australia at Chittagong, Apr 16-20, 2006 Second Test

6.6 Lee to Rajin Saleh, no run, on the middle and leg stump line, defended down on the leg side, Omar calls for the single but Saleh sends him back.

Omar nay itni mushkilon sey eik to Saleh ka number milaya, aur bhai sahab nay mana kar diya kay abhi mein nay baat hee nahin karnee.
