I was reading about Bangladesh Liberation War on wikipedia, i just wanted to know the accuracy of the article.
Re: Bangladesh Liberation War
Have not seen nor I bother to but it could be as accurate as 3.5 million Bangalis killed by Pakis.
Re: Bangladesh Liberation War
^ Dude,
MD has just posted this topic to stir trouble
3.5 million figure is already rejected by almost all people now, including professor sharmila bos (A Bangali Hindu lady) in an international conference in USA, who proved these blesphemous and venomenous propaganda spread by Mujeeb and RAW completely baseless.............
Re: Bangladesh Liberation War
No, the professor you quote did a study by interviewing people 30 years later. She did not “prove” anything, as “proof” would generally be complete and accurate burial records, which were not available. Her study casts doubt on the “number”, but it by no means is a definative study. The biggest effect her study had is to allow Pakistainis a little more denial. The Pakistani investigation into War Crime charges was probably the worst imaginable coverup, and was not even made public until the Indian press got a copy of it and published it.
Most academics believe that over a million civilians were killed. Over 10 million refugees fled, rendering accurate counts of the dead impossible.
Re: Bangladesh Liberation War
anyone who feels self satisfaction that it wasn't 3.5million people but just a million or a few hundred thousand, ought to have their brain morality and soul examined! funny, it's the same guys who wax eloquent about their Muslim brotherhood across borders - yet they went and committed these atrocities on their Muslim countrymen.
Come to think of it, this is the crime saddam hussein is being tried for now.
Re: Bangladesh Liberation War
^^
Well said brother...
These people try to take a speck out of somebody's eyes when they have a log in their own eyes.
Re: Bangladesh Liberation War
seems to belong here
Re: Bangladesh Liberation War
I am not at all interested in how many ppl were killed … i was just looking at the reason for the partition … and i wanted to know the accuracy of the article in this regard ONLY !
Re: Bangladesh Liberation War
Does this article say that India retaliated for 1000 years of slavery on behalf of Indira Gandhi?
Re: Bangladesh Liberation War
The offical Bangladeshi estimate as did senior Bangladfeshi leaders puts it at around a quarter of a million, I am assuming that includes people killed as collaborators or Non Bengalis..people also forget that the Pak troops presence was actually quite low..the 98,000 people who surrendered were from a wide range of backgrounds..barely a quarter of which were actual soldiers..the rapes and targetting f intellectuals is a shameful matter of record.
Re: Bangladesh Liberation War
Careful kid, be careful what you say.
My point was (Which you quoted) that the figure are not authentic. I did not quote the figures from myside, just that they were highly exaggerated.
Second, even if I quote the figures, are you gonna believe it? I am sure NO. Because, it is not possible to have an adequate assessment of the estimated figure by just looking at the stated statistics in the media WHERE ALMOST EVERY STAT IS EXAGERRATED…
You know why? Because during the war, Pakistan made a mistake and that was to stop the foreign reporters entry into East PAkistan. So, they had to rely on the already manipulated and exaggerated figure of “INDIAN MEDIA” which was alread spewing venom about Pakistan army and Pakistan, instilling hate in the hearts of Bengalis and feuling the civil war going on in that part of the region.
Third, if you need a correct estimate, you’d have to understand the whole issue in its right perspectives. Read multiple impartial reports and then you’d be able to know that every impartial report is saying the same thing, “The figures presented to the world 35 years back were highly exaggerated by Mujib (a RAW Agent)”
Fourth, Pakistan never denied but it STATED its side of the story and the purpose of the killings which were directed at the rebels. If you have read Boss’s artical (Which I think you have as you claim so) , you’d see how she has hit hard on the Indian statistics calling them “bitter lies”. Pakistan has always stated the purpose and targets and estimates of the killings from its side. There is not question of denial. Simply if there were not enough statistics available 35 years ago, it cannot be assumed either that Pakistan is “dening” something.
