Banazir's Shadi dress

hi
when banazir got married i was a child and at that time my mum n her friends used to talk about what she wore on her wedding. as far as i remember she wore this reallly expensive dress for shadi and it has semi precious stones in it. does any one have any pictures of her wedding dress and walima dress and any clue to who would have probably designed it. i live in southampton and there isnt a big asian library but people in london and else where they have big asian libraries will be able to find some info. i have heard there is one book that tells u about her personal life and career etc it might have pictures of her in her wedding dress.

Re: Banazir’s Shadi dress

faiza samee is supposed to have designed the wedding joras and jahez outfits.

she wore a green banarsi style saree at her aghd…the iranian style nikah ceremony (begum nustat bhutto is originally from iran), and a white outfit (shalvar qameez i think) at her reception/valima. ive seen pictures of the aghd/nikah…but i cant seem to find any online.

here she is at the reception:

also, here she is at her sister’s wedding:

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

wow sounds like an interesting dress, i'd love to see what it really looks like
is that her husband in the pic?!

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

did benazir hav an arranged marriage with asif zardari....?? if not then damnnn.. love's definitely blind!

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

yep...it was arranged.

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

for what ever they got together, they at least got married.

but then, there is also sometimes, no real love, on the man's side.
& so the blindness is ineffective.

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

well there can be no real love on the woman's side too. lets keep our personal biases and experiences being paraded as some standard set of facts.

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

not that she looks any better. gaudy makeup, makes her look more like a geisha than a bride. and asif looks like a bhangi hired to clean the toilets rather than teh groom

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

HEHEH

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

fraudia,

i disagree.

it is not personal bias.

look around that an example. if that was not the parents of the woman, things would have been different, right?

same goes for the man, if he truly respects and loves someone, he must do what he has to do, in order for bringing a balance between his happiness and his parents and let the woman change his parents' minds.

too much is sacrificed at the behest of false claims on the young women or men and how their lives become a kasoti at the hands of elders.

i am not saying we must dis honor elders by taking them out of our decisions. yet, we must be able to convince them to support us, when as adults we are making a life long decision of getting married to someone.

if a given person is good enough to say, i will want to seek you advice in all matters and then just blurbs out a disclaimer that things did not go as anticipated, then how come s/he cannot ask for advice in problem solving that hurdle now?

there is a mis match here between words and deeds.
and i for one feel that women and men, must stand by their decisions to be together and make it work peacefully, in a civil manner.

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

so it could be men, or women. right?

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

you appreciate a couple like this.
your political views may be guiding your bias here, dont you think?

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

but in what sense you said, "so it could be men, or women. right?"

and what is important is that women and men, do not take each other for granted.
that is all i am saying.

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

Appreciate a couple like THAT? for what. Lets leave politics out and look at the styling, I am not commenting on their features or anything, but what they have dressed up as

political views? oh come on
she has make up caked on her face. its like a good example of the donts from a makeup dos and donts right. Geisha may be a little too riught, but at minimum she looks like a kabuki dancer

and come on, asif looks like he just will take out that tinkay wala jharoo and will start cleaning the floor.

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

^LOL

but I dont think Benazir is looking like a geisha. This Picture is not great but She looks nicer in reality.

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

^ yea considering they got married in the late 80s she really is wearing very little makeup and its much more tasteful than some of the other stuff that came along around that time

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

more makeup less makeup, whatever, she looks unnatural ...like a dummy..err a mannequin. I am no make up expert, but when I see bad makeup, I know it.

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

Yeh i agree totally! Fashion and make up was very different back then.

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

wait no..the guy in the left is her HUSBAND?!? Ya'll are joking right! Oh hell naw it can't be

Re: Banazir's Shadi dress

When i see picture/ videos of that time i.e. the time benazir got married i really think she looks better - for todays times yes it looks unnatural but not more then what women do to themselves these days - its just that now all the layers dont show so clearly etc...women in those days used to put hot pink (too much of it) blush, and dark colored eye shades with red or pink lipsticks etc..so compared to that she is still looking pretty...the guy well he looks the the dakoo characters in pakistani punjabi movies hehe
