I think the locking of threads is now a bit too much.

Different schools of thoughts have different interpretations. Nothing wrong with that. As long as no direct abuses are hauled at each other, I am sure that we can resume Shia / Sunni issues on a pleasant level.

This forum has sure come to a halt with indiscriminate locking of threads.

Greenspan ruined the economy with his interest rate hikes, don’t do the same to this forum.

lol

I am personally not convinced with your statement a1shah. This forum has always had a history of self-appointed shia/sunni cut-throats hurling themselves at each other. I do not think it is at all realistic to expect otherwise.

I agree that the forum has slowed down, but how is that a valid reason in itself? Do you advocate returning to the "arena" just to increase the post count? I'm sure you will agree that this is not even a respectable idea.

You say that the dialogues that will take place will be of a constructive nature. How so? Why do you need to return to discussing Sunni/Shia issues to demonstrate that point?

There are hundreds of many other subjects that are encompassed within "Religion". Unless there is some consistent evidence that even these simple topics can be discussed to our mutual benefit, I do not see any reason to lift the ban on Shia/Sunni discussions.

Under the current climate, I strongly oppose the resumption of Shia/Sunni discussions that used to plague this forum before the "ceasefire" was implemented. So sue me.

They shoot partypoopers, don't they?

Lifting such a ban just gives another revenue of discussions.

The purpose is not to increase traffic flow at the expense of people hurling abuses at each other.

But many a issues in Islam have differing viewpoints and if such an intolerable attitude continues, every topic will be qualified for a lock up.

Again, whatever the guppy majority prefer is fine. This was just my view point. Hope the thread doen't get locked up.

Discussions on Islamic law does not have to be labelled as Shia / Sunni per say.

But as soon as sahihs are brought out as references and then refuted, the lock up is imposed.

In such a climate, how do you expect to proceed with a clear analysis of facts ?

The recent mut'a thread being a case in point.

Again, these are not the only topics that need be discusses, but the ban is getting to a level of "irrational exuberance" by some.

THis forum has become boring and almost deserted now since the banning of sect talk.

I agree with a1shah that these debates should continue. They are the soul of religion forum. "There should not be any personal attack though", and moderators should delete only personal attack type posts.
