Well… No… and Yes at the same time… I used to work for USAID in Kabul … I had 4 days off so Instead of coming to Pak… I along with 5 other frends Chartered a Samll 8 Seater Sesna Plane… and… Went to bamyan… From Bamyan we Travelled to Band-e-Amir By Road… and then came back to Bamyan and flown Back to Kabul.
If U go to Bamyan by Road from Kabul that will take round 8 to 9 Hrs I guess… dont know abt road conditions now. From Bamyan to band-e-Amir was I think 3 Hrs…
The governor of this place is actually trying to setup a tourist industry making locals entrepreneurial hosts. It helps that Bamiyan is perhaps the safest place for foreigners in Afghanistan.
The way this tourism idea works is archaic, but it gets the job done. They'll (govt) set you up with a family, have them show you around, help you get to places, and in the end every dollar charged will be given back to the family who kept you under their roof. Consider it a foster family of sorts. Sorta.
excellent. wish theres more peace and prosperity in pakistan and afghanistan bth stunning countries yet sadly mismanaged by their leaders. i would love to go afghanistan but safety is an issue.
