Bally Sagoo Arrives in Lahore
There are only a handful of Asian acts that have achieved global success.
It's not one of the easiest things to do in the music world, but one man who has stood up to be counted is the man with the big beats and the platinum hits. He is Bally Sagoo. As soon has he landed in Lahore he especially held a press conference at Avari Lahore to share his excitement for his upcoming two performances.
Bally Sagoo was to originally perform in 2002 but due to the unfortunate 9/11 incidents he was unable to make it to Pakistan. Thanks to Ahmed and Mustafa Butt he has been brought to us live for his very first concert in Lahore on 3 April, which would be followed by a concert in Islamabad on the 9th. By virtue of the popularity of his early bhangra remixes and his work with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Bally played a crucial role in opening up Desi music to the kinds of experimentation that now characterized it. He helped to make it palatable, first to the entire south Asian and then brought it into mainstream and now has made is popular all over the world. Music of these genres can be, at best, a mind-opening stepping-stone to an understanding of the self in relation to the culture that the tune carries at its core. Such an artist has the potential to produce a profoundly eroticizing effect only with his music that he calls a universal language.
Since the age of 10, Bally was brought up only on music. Soul, Hip Hop and Reggae were the main outside influences that kept Bally Sagoo's mind fusing the traditional music of India with the rhythms of the west. "Working with different sings was his key to success. There are no limitations or boundaries when it comes to music. People like me can explore music and bring it to people who are not able to go around the world."
Bally Sagoo would not only be performing but he is also keeping an eye on the new artists who people haven't heard of before abroad. He also would be looking out for great talent in not only the singer area but also fresh talent lyrist and Qawals. He would be searching for a future Britney Spears and Ricky Martin of Pakistan.
This is not bally's first visit to Pakistan he has been here 5 times before but this would his first time to perform infront a lahori audience.
He looks forward to his perform and describes his "feelings as it he has landed on moon".
