Screw ICC and Daryl Hair ....

Daryl Hair should either give evidance of player doing the tempering or a BIG TIME appology and should never stand in Pakistan games...period.....unless one of this happen, Pakistan should not play the game under the governence of ICC...

Ball Tempering Controversy- Your views and discussion

After yesterday's events lot of accusations have been flying around, everyone trying to blame everyone else. Looking at the dispute:

  • The problem is between ICC and Pakistan
  • Cricketing relations between Pakistan and England are excellent and a lot of good cricket has been played and appreciated by the crowd.
  • Bob Woolmer apologised to the public who had come to watch the match yesterday and had tickets for today's match
In view of this if we were to abandon the tour:

  • We would lose sympathy and support not only from England but also from the rest of the world

  • As our dispute is with ICC should we penalise the English cricket fans who have paid a lot of money to watch our team

  • What grounds would we have to refuse to play against England

  • We need all the support we can get

  • England will probably sue us for compensation and it will run into millions of £'s. Do we have that sort of money to pay.

Our fire should be directed towards ICC and not England.

The Dilemma therefore is how should Pakistan react if ICC bans Inzi for a number of matches, should we play or should we abandon the ODI series.

MY view:

If ICC imposes immediate ban on Inzi than the situation will get out of hand and the team might well refuse to play the ODI series resulting in a very ugly situation as explained above. If the ban is for after this series than Pakistan should honour their commitment to ECB and than walk out of ICC champions trophy.

ICC needs to be taught a lesson and they are guilty of constantly nominating the incompetent hair to officiate at Pakistani matches. Was ICC trying to provoke Pakistan? It seems so. At last I have come round to the idea that we should join hands with India to get rid of ICC as India has been saying for sometime now.

Re: The Dilemma

Really excellent post. Yes joint hands not only with India but also get support from the Sri Lankans also as they have also been the victims themselves.

Re: The Dilemma

Great analysis ehsan uncle,........well now we jus gotta wait and see what our 'punishment' is,...........only after that can it be decided what steps we're gna take but i totally agree with u in saying that we shouldn't walk out of the English tour. Its onli gonna result in more degradation of our team through the media.

Re: The Dilemma

Ehsan chacha jee, good analysis.

BUT

Knowing the mentality of Indian Banya, they will not support us.

We shud not however back down. One possibility, if Inzi is banned is to play under Yousuf or Younus but announce at the same time that Pakistan will forfeit its test status.

Re: The Dilemma

I agree with the point that any immediate ban should result in packing of bags. Doesnt matter how well we get along with ECB, they will suffer and not because of our own fault. Hope they will understand. India and Sri Lanka will back us up immediately because they have suffered Hair damages previuosly and would like a Hair transplant asap. Rest of the world will see it as a subcontinental blackmailing but to the people affected, its the right defend one's integrity.

It is hugely shambolic that all ICC wants is to impose and care for the rules but not the spirit of the game which was severly damaged yesterday. I am quite sure that ICC will back Hair fully knowing that there is NO evidence whatsoever of the incident yet they will carry his balls for him till his hands are free. They will not show any leniency towards Pakistan or Inzimam.

Re: The Dilemma

In my opinon, ICC must understand the "sensitivity" of this issue. The issue has already been mishandled by the so called officials. Putting further charges on Pakistan will simply make this bad situation worse.

ICC must relaise that it was the due to Hair's madness which resulted in Pakistan's protest. How can someone even think of accusing a team of ball tampering without an evidence.

First of alll there shouldn't be any penalty for Pakistan team or Inzi. However if there is any, then ICC should also penalize Hair i.e. kicking him out of ICC elite panel.

If ICC puts any penality on Inzi but Hair gets with away, then I say screw this tour. If ECB really wants this tour to continue, they can assist their fellow cricket board (PCB) in this case. Why can't they use their resources, which will ensure that Pakistan won't receive any penalities and Hair gets some. ECB along with other boards have got away with other stunts in the past without any penalities, so I am assuming that they are pretty resourceful.

In my personal opinion if inzi is banned for 2 matches and Hair gets away, it will be a slap on Pakistan's face and if Pakistan continue to tour after Inzi's ban, it will be a slap on Inzi's face who is touring England for the very last time in his career.

Re: The Dilemma

^ I dont think ICC will punish Hair publicly. They will back him up all the way. He was just following the rules in their opinion. I am with pakistani team over this issue but imagine Hair being maligned publicly by ICC. It will give the impression to other teams that Pakistan held ICC to ransom. I will be pleasantly surprised if they remove Hair from the elite panel and by all indications he will be retained.

Re: The Dilemma

ICC is in a bit of a tangle. They will not publicly slap hair, after all it is as much their fault. They appointed him despite repeated request from Pakistan not to appoint him. As I said earlier I have a suspicion that they were trying to provoke Pakistan. Of all the umpires available on the panel they had to go for hair to supervise the matches agaisnt Pakistan. Something doesn't add up. Whether they will remove him from the elite panel in a few months time remains to be seen.

The issue of Inzi or Pakistan being punished is a seperate one and here ICC are in a real bind.

What might happen is that if they cannot find concrete evidence of ball tampering they will sack Hair and than punish Pakistan for bringing the game into disrepute by their actions yesterday. This way they get out relatively unscathed. Lets see which way the worm turns.

ICC has got to be the most inefficient and toothless organisation I have ever come across.

Re: The Dilemma

The problem with cricket is that it is probably the most bureaucractic and political sport. The ICC is definetley an extremley inefficient organisation.

I am pretty sure that they will not ban or even remove Darrel Bald from the elite panel, because bureacratically speaking it would result in the assumption that he was "wrong"... Rather, they will end up fining Pakistan and Mr. Bald will probably "retire" soon, so that he can save face.

I think Inzimam has been an excellent ambassador for Pakistan (as a nation and as a team). None of his decisions thus far have been irrational or ignroant. His statements have been well said. He has demonstrated how honorable and proud Pakistani's are, and that cricket is more than just winning a game.

Inzimam will probably get suspended for a few games, but I don't think Pakistan should withdraw from the ODI's based on this action. It's a true dilemma, but whatever they do, I will (and I would hope all Pakistani's) support them 100%.

Re: The Dilemma

i think pcb alone does not have the gutts to take on icc....
they need the support from the asian block to get out of this mess....
indian cricket, i think, can easily dictate terms over icc simply because of the large amount of money it generates, hence we need to have them on our side....

walking away from the odi series, even if inzi is banned, will really be a blunder....
maybe shahid yusuf, deep in his heart, might be praying for an inzi ban :p

Re: The Dilemma

ICC is under control of Malcom Speed, who is that guy? oh yea! another Kangroo, I dont expect him or for that matter ICC under him making right decision's at all, I am sure it will not be Inzi only they will surely ban our key players; from both bowling and batting dept.

Inzi has stated in his interview that Pakistan have said many times through proper channels that we dont want this umpire, it simply means ICC wanted a beef with Pakistan and as for India, they will never support us in this matter at all, Srilanka may provide a supportive voice but India I cannot even dream of that at all!

ODI series well that is another matter, well forget the support and compassion of Englishmen, British are only good as their evening cup of tea and nothing else, (no offense to Pakistani englishmen).

Pakistan should play the ODI series but how this matter unfold under ICC in coming weeks will surely test the Pakistani management, what Pakistan (PCB) can do right away is that they should call up Imran Khan and Wasim Akram and draft them under PCB (if they can) big names do help in such a bull fight!

Re: The Dilemma

looks like we're doomed............imran khan's the onli one who can speak out @ a moment like this..........

Re: The Dilemma

^ Then let the Great Khan speak for us.... We shouldn't play any cricket if Inzi is banned ; PCB needs to realize that a step backward here will mean taking backseat for ever. I can sympathize with ECB for the losses, but the economics of the game can't really be greater than the dignity of a nation. We have every right to ask for justification from HAIR and if he doesn't provide it, then we will do what we gotta do. I would rather live without cricket than take this humiliation from ICC.

I hope BCCI issues a statement of support or something; but its just a wishful thinking. Now that Ind/Sri series has been called of, they are most definitely reading about all of whats going on with Pak. They have a chance to shine here; lets see if they pull a surprise.

Re: The Dilemma

Ehsan pa its a good post to start off but it will be all dirt once we see PCB stance on this matter. PCB will not do anything. ICC will appologise to PCB internally and Inzi will get a ban, Hair will be more free than he has hair on his head and the bast**** will enjoy all this.

Honestly Shaharyar has no balls to take firm action on this matter. He is up against a gora and he will be peeing in his pants like Mushy does.

Re: The Dilemma

In case ICC hand out punishment to Inzi (or Pakistan), I say:

  • Complete the ODI series (as scheduled) as a good gesture towards English crowd and ECB

  • Pull out of all future fixtures. If we have signed contract for Champions Trophy, send the 3rd string team

Pakistan should not agree to play future fixtures unless Hair has been removed from ICC panel or at least we get a guarantee that he will not be appointed in Pakistani games. After all empires DO drop out of Elite panel on the basis of their performances (and I am wondering how bad a umpire can perform), why not Hair ...he is most incompetent umpire around these days, least to say.
