I know nothing .. and i mean it nothing about baking. Not proud of it but thats the truth! So here in UK, every other person bakes yummy stuff. Every household Ive visited, they have something baked.
Anyway, I have all the time in the world and wanted to start learning. I will join baking classes but all in the nearby areas are starting after a few months.
So would any of you teach me the basics and where i should get started. I do have a baking oven available and have shops for all the breads etc. nearby too.
Re: Baking’s ABC?
Hey daffy,
Yea, we love baking here. You will soon see the TV contest prog “The Great British bake-off”. It would be worth watching I think!
The easiest thing to bake is a simple sponge cake. You do need to figure out how to make a decent sponge to figure out how stuff cooks in your oven.
So I’d get either a fairy cake tray or a 6 or 7 inch cake tin to begin with. If you are getting the former, you need to fairy cake cases too.
Most recipes have the same basic ingredients. Eggs, butter, caster sugar, self raising flour and baking powder.
Here are some simple ones to get you started:

Re: Baking's ABC?
Yep, sponge cake is the easiest. Start with that. You should buy electric mixer too.
Baking's ABC?
I'd say start with cake mixes.
Once u bake those u get used to ur oven and get to know baking.
Then give a try to recipes from scratch.
